Why does Vegas have to keep gouging us?

Last season they play the Knights on Jan 1st, this season it’s Valentine’s Day. Anyone else tired of being the leagues piggy bank?

They know we’ll go, so they pick the days that ensure they will get every extra dollar from us.

it may have been "expensive" (for the common person) but anyone who was tripping to Vegas for NYE to see the Leafs don't/didn't care about cost.

Meh the cost isn’t the biggest problem, it’s just the added insanity. It’s hard to be spontaneous when everywhere is packed/ sold out that’s worth going too.

I still think it’s lame that’s it clear the league is doing it on purpose.

It is the Leafs, they sell out anywhere even in Arizona. Heck, I even bet that if the Leafs is to travel to Sydney to have a game, Leafs Nation will still be flying there for the game.

Maybe now, with a couple years of a star laden roster and a world shaking signing of Tavares, combined with the undisputed fact that we have the largest hockey fanbase PERIOD... maybe... just maybe...

Bettman and the Refs can finally give the leafs fair calls for Penalties.

With one of the fastest skilled teams in the league - it was conspirital how we were 3rd last in penalties drawn.

Maybe...

Maybe I'm missing something but why is it bad for us to play LVK on Valentines day? What is so "hockey" special about that day?

I noticed that. At least with Family Day that weekend we get an extra day off that weekend in Ontario.(It is that weekend I believe)

Las Vegas will already be full because of people going for Valentines Day, it means hotels and everything will be more expensive/ crowded.

They’re clearly picking days they know will be tougher sells for other hockey markets to be able to squeeze more money out of a devoted fan base.

I’m too old and wise. We went to a lot of shows and ate like kings.

That’s one thing I love about Vegas, amazing food is all around you. While it’s not cheap Joel Robuchon’s is a meal not to be missed.

Their testing kitchen where you can get the ten course tasting meal and watch them make it is also quite an experience.

1. No one is gouging anyone
2. It is a business

I get that’s its a business but occupancy rates drives hotel prices. You could have the exact same trip do the exact same thing but end up shelling out more money solely because they know they can do it to Leaf fans.

Plus Valentine’s Day in Las Vegas sounds like a bit of a tacky nightmare.

Yes, they have the biggest markets in the biggest travel destinations on the most popular tourist times on the calendar.

That’s not gouging, that’s simply good business.

This is the same thing as people thinking tickets for a Leafs game at the ACC are too expensive, when MLSE could raise ticket prices 25-50% and still sell out.

It’s simple business.

I just booked my comp room for the Monday -Friday. With the game being a Thursday night game there will be lots of rooms. Friday and Saturday will see an increase as people will be celebrating Valentine’s Day then.

Yeah I get that, I was just looking to get tickets last night and got annoyed it was Valentine’s Day.

I love Vegas, it’s a great place to waste money just not on New Year’s Day or Valentine’s Day.

Anyone who think thats gouging probably goes to the casino with $20.

It’s more of a comment on other markets taking advantage the Leaf fans. Anyone flying to Vegas to watch a hockey game is likely dropping a fair bit of money. The price difference is likely maybe a few hundred dollars for hotels.

The game will end up being the least costly thing, it’s just annoying it’s always during some other holiday.
