He's a Homer.
And your a ......... I’m not saying the guy has been lights out, but some of you are exaggerating. It’s not being a homer it’s just being real.

Genuinely curious as a non-bolts viewer. What was the points spread or whatever through the season. How much did he get before vs after Kucherov cooled off

Well, he had like 35-40 points in his first 20ish games. And he finished the season with 12 ES goals.

It seems as he still has the tools, but the mental pace seems to have changed for him thus far. I could be wrong, but he looks to be one of those players who'd be bound to retire as early as 34.

It's not just a mental thing. He's lost his explosiveness.

Everyone in this thread is correct, Stamkos is a washed up has-been. On behalf on Ken Holland I would like to offer Tampa Bay a first rounder and Frans Nielsen for him. As a favor I'll throw in Justin Abdelkader to give you some extra depth for your cup run.
Your first rounder this season?

f***ing a. We have a deal.

Stamkos hasn't been the same player since he broke his leg. I don't think his skating is very good anymore.

He has a lot of the same issues that many elite triggermen have, they have a tendency to never really develop their game beyond being really good at shooting the puck. I know that his skating has been declining for years now, but I don't see a guy with the skating to get himself open anymore. This doesn't change the fact that he's an extremely talented player, but simply that he needs to fix parts of his game that I think he has neglected for a long time.

At the end of the day people may complain about the way that Stamkos is trying to evolve his game, but it's for the best. I think of the way that a like Dany Heatley fell off a cliff after the lost the ability to skate at an NHL level, and while Stamkos's decline will probably never be to that degree, he has the same issue of lacking the mobility to play his game anymore.
