Penguins Legal Office
1: Age
2: Cap
3: One Goalie protection

30 of 30 teams at the time would’ve chose to protect a proven younger cap controlled goalie. The hindsight has to stop, and we got two cups with Murray in goal. No sane Pittsburgh fan is complaining.

Nearly 6 mill, average season, NMC, Pens hands were tied as they had to lose 1 of Fleury or Murray. I am guessing that the return they got offered for him was lower than the player they would lose in the expansion draft anyway. If they traded Fleury, they would have had to give up someone else to LV.

The way it worked out was a win for all parties involved. Not sure why anyone's questioning it.
