Why Bill Sweatt is ranked 61th by Red Line?

Sweatt is playing D1 hockey in his draft year. That's not all that common. I can understand why he wasn't scoring as much in the first half of this season. I'm sure it's a pretty big adjustment. The way his scoring picked up in the second half, makes me think that his offensive ability is being underrated, around here. I probably only saw one or two Colorado College games this year, and I didn't notice Sweatt, so I'm just going on numbers, by the way.

Another reason why he wasn't scoring as much in the first half was because he also battled mono and missed a few games - a point that many people (not necessarily referring to you here) who don't or haven't followed CC, and more specifically Sweatt, all year fail to recognize in their assessments.

And for this reason I'd be stunned if Sweatt is not on half of the NHL team's top 30 lists. I cant wait to see what some people here on HF do when Sweatt is picked top 25. (And Mayorov top 15)

I just ran through the box scores and he put up 18-5-10-15 after coming back from the World Juniors, so he put up 12-4-7-11 in the first half.

Assuming their boxscores are accurate in terms of first and second assists (instead of just randomly putting them up there like at least the Q seems to do on occasion), it should be noted that the vast majority of Sweatt's assists are primary, so it looks like he's not getting many cheap points, which people might also want to consider when they look at his stats.

That's a good point. It seems that some scouting reports (and not just of those of current collegians) base their assessments on certain games and/or those viewed at a certain time in the season and that is suppose to their measuring stick. This is the problem that I have with those that do that. I realize that scouts can't see ALL of the games nor should they be expected to, but working with other sources that can "fill in the gaps" would make for better/more accurate reporting, don't you think?

Because all the way down to 61 is insane, thats out of the second round!!!!! There isnt 60 players better than Sweatt, let alone 30. He is a first round talent.

You obviously dont realize that isnt all about scoring at the next level. Bill Sweatt has so many other intangibles that make him a very valuable player, the biggest one being his speed. You can't make a play on the puck if you don't get there first, and you can't hit what you can't catch. Saying that he isn't a first rounder cuz he can't finish is ridiculous.

If anything, he would be right on that. No team wants to draft a Bulis, Kolstov or Salmalainen in the first round.

I feel that with even moderate weight/muscle improvement this summer, Sweatt could be in the NHL for 2007-08. If not then, most certainly the year after.

Now, in what capacity would that be? Penalty killing specialist. He wouldn't light it up, but the point is I feel he's already good enough to make an NHL roster on that alone.

Most teams don't want to, but like it or not, those are the types of players who make up the majority of draft picks turned NHLers. Bulis was likely one of the top 30 players from his draft year.

Yes, you're definetly right, but I was more or less pointing out what might be a good reason to rate Sweatt so low. If redline believes he's just another Fata or Kolstov, then no.61 seems about right.
