hey ottawa senator actually started in the league in 1917. they've won the cup also. they left the league and came back still as the ottawa senators. so in theory the did start in 1917. should count for something. hehe. 1to 30 and back to1to30 makes it totally unfair to later teams in the draft. only fair to snake it. for example
10 teams -100players points of players are 100-99-98-97 and so on.
players vaule 100 next 99 next 98 and so on,
team 1 =100= +90+80+70+60+50+40+30+20+10=total 550
team 10=91+81+71+61+51+41+31+21=11+1-----total460
snake draft
team1=100+81+80+61+60+41+40+21+20+1 total505
team10=91+90+71+70+51+50+31+30+11+10 total505
if numbers were used to represent vaules this should show you how unfair it is drafting 1to30 over and over. lets at least give everyone a fair shot and then there hockey knowledge can take over. snake draft at least will put everyone on even footing.

Agreed.

Either randomly draw for the draft order, or base it on league seniority with rounds snaked. Getting to pick half way through the first 120 players taken, and then not again until #120 is a distinct disadvantage.

I'm not quite sure I follow how you are trying to explain, but I do get the jist of what you are trying to communicate. I understand the snake draft and am not closed to that idea. I just would like for he draft to be similar to that of the Entry draft (to me that would be most realistic) I myself came up with the idea with the order (earliest entry into the league and soon) after much consideration. I tried to reward the oldest and most financially stable teams.

If there is that many people that do not like the original idea, than we can have a vote. I'm open. I prefer my way but,I am flexible, and can see teh desire for the snake draft.

The thing about the entry draft is that it is in that order for a reason (performance in the regular season). It is not the Columbus Blue Jackets fault that they were the last team to enter the league so IMO it wouldn't be fair to put em last in every round.

the is a draft for a new nhl. older teams don't deserve to be rewarded its 30teams in the hat lets see who gets lucky number 1 thats enough reward or advange for them then snake draft to help even things out.i can understand why the early pickers would not want a snake draft . they would have such an advange even if the blundered on a few picks they would still be far ahead of the later teams picking. i know its just for fun but lets at least make it fair. if i'm going to put time and effort in this i want at least a fair shake. even if I had first pick i would still want a snake draft as i pride myself in knowing hockey and being able to compate with others on a level playing field. do you not have the same self confidence in yourself.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. Where and how could I set up a poll for us all to vote on. I want everyone to be at least somewhat happy.

Personal circumstances arose and Im gonna have to resign from TBAY. I wont be able to spend as much time as it would be needed, add to that as Im in the 9 round mock which Im already committed to. Sorry guys, i just wanted to get out now and not cause any problems later.

Whle you can easily determine league seniority, fnancial stablity seems a bit arbitrary. The CBJ are one of the more financially stable teams in the league, being in the upper half of the league each of their 4 seasons in gate revenue, and being one of the few to turn a profit in each of the last 4 seasons.

I'm for a random draft order, snaked.

I have another suggestion, this one is for when we actually begin the draft. Instead of having a thread in which we have over 1000 posts, how about we set up a new draft thread and each GM has one post in which they keep editing with their new selection. That way it'll be cleaner and easier to follow.

Cheers
All for it, browsing 80+ pages is awkward.

i'd say draft whoever is available or eligible crosby and company should be allowed in.

who, in terms of prospects, is eligible to draft?

played in the NHL? drafted by an NHL team? crosby?

Anyone who is currently in the NHL, and anyone who has been drafted. This years entry class is excluded.

I believe we have all the GM"s that we can handle. We are just wanting fo the confirmation of our last GM (Wikster), whom took the rigns of the Minnesota wild.

Congratulations all, and welcome to the "new" NHL!

Today will be the day the new league will start to form.

After viewing the results of the poll I issued, so far it seems people are more interested in taking part in a "snake" draft. I have no problem with that. The order will remain the same (as to reward our older teams)

We'll establish a time limit for our picks, with exceptions...

If someone states a specific time that they can make a selection (if it is supposed to be past their alotted time period) than we can cut them some slack,as everyone has their own lives to live, no doubt. Example (ie)... Person A drafts, person B has (lets's say) 4 hours to make selection. If person B, states before his pick, that he can not pick til said time (for whatever the reason, ie... work or personal) than he can chose a time (within reason) that he/she will make their selection. We obviously want this to run as quick and smoothly as possible.

I'll set forth a new thread to see if everyone is ready to begin. Good luck to all, but I know you will not need it. Enjoy
