VGK lost-and I don't know why they let the other 2 off the hook.

OTT got a lower end defenseman, and a fantastic goaltender prospect, and a 1st.

PIT got the best player in the deal, and a bouncing around do nothing prospect.
sad since he was pretty good as a General :(

Reaves will turn into a 30 goal scorer in Vegas.

Penguins. I still don't get this deal from Vegas. Do they feel guilty about the expansion draft and what they did to Florida?

Apparently, according to John Shannon, they retained on Brassard so he'd stay out of the west, specifically the Jets.

Dunno how true the Jets part is, but retaining on Brassard makes sense if that's the reason. They're not going to be a cap team for two years.

For the deal we got I'd rather him the west, and if he goes to WPG, odds are on they can soften up NSH for us if we make it that far.

Stupid premise for a stupid trade.

I think the real winners are Pitsburgh. They added a 2C without giving up anything significant. A late 1rst, a good prospect and Cole. I'll be interested to see if they add a D with Cole gone?

Ottawa did good also, probably ends up being a late 1rst, 2nd and Gus for Brassard which is very reasonnable value as well.

According to Marc Bergevin you can't acquire C in this league though.

It was a win for everyone. Pit gets their guy, Ottawa gets a solid return of assets, Vegas keeps Brassard out of the West and gets Reaves and a 4th. Yea they retained but they'll be nowhere near a cap team next year anyway.

He's close to being right though :sarcasm:

Just in the last 3 years, Ottawa dealt Spezza, acquired Brassard for Zibanejad, acquired Duchene for Turris, and then traded Brassard.

Eric Staal signed in Minny and got traded to the Rangers before that.

Adam Henrique got traded earlier this season.

Brayden Schenn got traded this summer.

I think I only heard about Brassard.

Pittsburgh and I am not sure how it is even close.

They get a player that makes them if not the favorite top 3 for winning the Cup.

Vegas gets a little for doing not much so they don't win or lose.

Ottawa gets a big risk of coming away with nothing but a get an ok shot at a goalie maybe turning out.

Want to say Sens, but Pittsburgh took all the goods.

It could benefit Ottawa if they just sacrifice the pick to Colorado.
