Better than their best player choking hard and getting humiliated in the 1st round.
Nobody predicted the Leafs to beat the Bruins. They came back from 3-1 and forced game 7.

Jets benefited from a pathetically weak conference and ended up getting exposed as the pretenders they were by an expansion team. Said expansion team happened to get exposed when they faced their first real team in the cup finals.

They choked really badly and their "generational" player was MIA.

A Nashville team that needed 6 games to beat a pathetic Colarado team that wouldn't have even cracked the top-10 in the East? And who's goalie couldn't stop a beach-ball?

The Golden Knights were by far the best team in the West and it was evidenced by them running through it with a 12-3 record - Nobody in the West posed any sort of the challenge for them, that's how incredibly weak the West has become - they humiliated the Jets in 5 games, that's all there is to it. "
keep trying to call them out for something they're not" - Surely you can see the position you're trying to argue from here, it's a very bad one.

If there was a guy people are counting out its probably Crosby.....he might even finish 2nd behind Ovechkin next year.

Dude, the majority of Leafs fans thought they would beat the Bruins. I recall quite a few Leafs fans actually hoping they would play the Bruins because they would expose those "slow Bruins" with their speed.

weak west?

East confrence played a total of 480 games against West, of those 204 were losses
West confrence played a total of 480 games against East, of those 172 were losses.

So the incredibly strong East had more losses against the weak West?

Ovy might take a year off, the recovery his body is going to need after being drunk for 12 straight weeks might put him behind the 8 ball early baha.

Especially considering he might not have only grabbed some beers but also grabbed some whatever.

Ovechkin probably if he plays the full season but look for Laine and Matthews to challenge him if they both stay healthy too. I actually think Ovechkin is going to have an even better season next year, the Cup win will loosen him up for the regular season and I think he gets 50 and maybe over 90 points.

Surprised Kucherov wasn't an option. Regardless I'm going with Laine. He's gonna be the next great sniper, and I think Ovi will slow down after his cup win just enough for Laine to win the Rocket.

It's not choking when you lose to a superior team in 7 games. Boston was hands-down a better hockey team than Toronto last year.

No one with a brain thinks Auston Matthews is a generational talent. McDavid yes, Matthews/Eichel/Laine/Barzal, no.

Laine with 85+ if PoMo puts him w 55. 60-65g if he has to play with Little again. 29 has never had a full off season training. He is so raw still, but with the help of best FIN trainer Ratatula I would be shocked if Laine didn't set a new single season goal record next year.

Is Ratatula putting roids in his cheerios? An offseason of training does not add 50 goals to your total...
