I have been working on a YouTube highlight video of Svechnikov's goals, and it suddenly struck me that the way he scores is so very different from the way Wahlstrom scores. Wahlstrom is an incredible sniper with pinpoint accuracy. Most of his goals come from a distance. Svechnikov is an incredible finisher with tremendous hockey sense. Most of his goals come from very close to the net, and a lot are scored on one-on-one dekes of the goalie. When you put these types of players on the ice with NHL teammates, which one would you rather have? Assuming NHL players can both put the puck on Wahlstrom's stick and generate scoring chances where Svechnikov can capitalize, and assuming they play a roughly equal number of NHL games, which one is more likely to retire with more goals? I'm only talking about goals, not points, since I think Svechnikov will win that category.
