Speculation: Who will score more? Dadonov or Hoffman? Can we re-sign both?

Who will score more goals this year?

Both players have been welcomed additions with the losses of Marchessault and Smith. There's arguments to Marchessault over Dadonov but Hoffman is a clear upgrade over Smith.

Dadonov currently with 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 pts in 35 games
Hoffman currently with 17 goals 16 assists for 33 pts in 35 games

Both have one more year remaining on their current deals.

A couple questions...

1) Who will score more goals this year between the two? How many total for each?

2) Who will finish with more total points? How many total for each?

3) What do their next contracts look like?

4) Can we realistically re-sign both when thinking of Barkov, Trocheck and Huberdeau's new deals?

5) If you could only re-sign one, who would it be and why?

1) at least 25g each, potentially 30 for each.
2) dadonov will finish with more points since hes a naturally better passer, both will break 60, maybe 70.
3) 7per on each depending on how they close out their seasons.
4) they only have 1yr remaining on each, barkov, tro and hubs wont be for a little while, especially barkov and tro, they still have 4yrs left after this season, thats 3 more than dads and hoff. but trade bjugstad and when mcginn walks this offseason then yea we have more than enough to resign both. we'll deal with the other contract extensions and shuffle pieces around when that day comes.
5) i was leaning on dadonov before because he could consistently score and hes a great passer but ive been leaning towards hoff because hes shocked me with how well he is in all areas offensively. plus hes the triggerman on the pp and thats huge to have, so i think thats the deciding factor for me.

1)
Hoffman finishes with 37 goals, the PP stays hot and he's our leading goal scorer

Dadonov finishes with 34 goals, he shoots when he can but still over passes sometimes.

2)
Dadonov finishes with 77 pts if he plays a full 82

Hoffman finishes with 74 pts if he plays a full 82

3)
Hoffman re-signs with FLA for 7yr @ $7.5 million (assuming we make playoffs this year and next, he likes the weather, players and tax break)

Dadonov re-signs with FLA for 5yr @ $7.65 million. (We gave him his 2nd chance, he blossomed and gets rewarded with higher AAV but less term since he will be 31 when he signs a new deal)

4)
The cap going up a couple million next year and probably another couple million once SEA starts playing, Luongo, Bjugstad and Reimer will be gone and that's just over $12 million between those 3 plus the inflated cap, we should have no problems re-signing both.

5)
It'd be a tough decision but I'd go with Hoffman because he shoots a lot and we have a fair amount of pass first guys. Both are great players though.

I know both of them will be in good position to ask for a big contract.

But I wouldn't sign Hoffman for as long as 7 years!

I might be wrong, but is it me or players tend to decline a little bit faster nowadays? In a league that's getting younger and younger.

I wouldn't be schoked if by the age of 35, Hoffman becomes a PP specialist and that's it.

I hear ya, but if Hoffman puts up back to back 30+goal/70pt seasons, we won't have much leverage to deny him it.

We could get creative and front end load both Dadonov and Hoffman's deals so it's possibly easier to buy them out or trade them when they have a year or two left.

Ideally I think 5-6 years for Hoffman would be great but he will push for that 7th year hard.

So no one will score 40?

 well both Dadonov and Hoffman are on pace for exactly 40 goals....
Can you imagine the subtle jabs being tossed around here if we have two 40 goal guys this year.

yet still not making the playoffs!

I think Hoffman scores more goals. Dadonov will have more points.

I think realistically we will just re-sign one. Probably Dadonov because he will want to be play with his friend Panarin...

You've joined the pessimist/realist group already? Say it ain't so my friend.

You know something we dont know about Panarin do ya?
Who would you rather re-sign though?

I would want to keep both of them if possible, but if I had to pick one I would keep Dadanov.

But on the other had Hoffman and his shot are filing a hole that has existed for most of the team’s existence, it would be hard to say bye to that.

Hopefully Tippett can fill that void if it happens that way.

If Tallon is still around I can see us letting them both go to save money and management sells it to us because we need space for Tippett and youngsters and none will come even close to replacing those 50-70 goals we lost
