Maybe you can say a lot of luck was involved but with Tyler Bozak no longer on the Leafs, when they have games this season that go to a shootout who can replace Bozak's success on scoring during it? Last season Bozak was 5/6 with an 83.3% success rate. Auston Matthews for example was 3/6 last season which is a 50.0% success rate.

I also know the Leafs were horrible in the shootout during the 2017 season going 1-8, with Mitch Marner scoring twice all year and Matthews scoring their only other shootout goal during that whole season. So maybe their success last season in the shootout won't mean a thing again this season.

We might not need those SO as we are going to win those games in RT plus few more in the RT (just by having better defensive / offensive player (that's JT) in the line up then Bozak)

Yes Bozak was great in SO last year (he was 0 for 3 in 2016 -17) but we now have Tavares who is way better then Bozak both offensively / defensively (you get more goals and give up less goals). We are not even sure whether Bozak is going to be a SO performer from 2017- 18 or 2016 - 17?. Hopefully we are not going to need so many SO wins and win those games in RT and OT

That was a stat that was never added to Bozak's totals but Tavares and Ennis are good around the net and should score a lot of OT goals, if needed.

If other teams even make it to a shootout... Marner, Matthews and Tavares will get the job done.

Nobody, and the Leafs will lose all 17 games that go to a shootout, and miss the playoffs by one point.

Dumb question.

Oh, and kb, you broke the mic, so you owe $135 for a new one.

I can tell you one thing, a top 3 of Matthews, Marner and Tavares would frighten me if I were an NHL goaltender heading into the shootout, and to think that the Leafs still have Nylander, Marleau, Kadri waiting for you.

Ennis hasn't been good around the net for the past 4 years, where his shooting percentage has been around 5%. Even when he was "good" it was 10% (even if he was decent at shoutouts. I wouldn't expect Ennis to score a lot of goals, let alone OT goals. He'll have do to a lot more than be good at the shootout like he hasn't been for half a decade to earn a spot, IMHO.

Hopefully the Leafs won't be involved in a lot of shootouts this season, however if they are I hope you will be right about that.

He’s got great hands and great hockey IQ, he just needs more confidence. Matthews, Marner , Tavares is a great shootout group and lots of good options after them.

Ennis seems pretty good but I’d prefer to see core players getting the opportunity, I don’t think Ennis will be around long.

In fact, the team should have fewer turns in OT, since being able to play 3 lines instead of 2 in the third period will mean the leafs will have a lot more energy when it comes to maintaining leads and over coming being down a goal in regulation, not having to worry about the 3rd line being able to handle itself defensively. My guess is the leafs end up in OT 10 times or less this year. We don't exactly have a squad that's designed to fight for loser points.
