...when we get back to drafting players, someday?

    My guess: The Buffalo Sabres.

And what makes you think the Sabres are going to pick first?

my bet is that the NHL takes the average placing of the last 5 years and do a total random draw to make it fair, because some teams fade and some teams move up the ladder in the conferences

The Calgary Flames, although I still think the question is impossible to answer since we are on the brink of armageddon.

I dislike that idea. Mainly because, if you've sucked for 5 years you've already had PLENTY of high draft picks.

I say take the 2003-2004 standings and hold another lottery for the top pick.

or a straight equal lottery for the teams that missed the playoffs last year?

7.14285 chance of winning the #1 pick for the 17th placed team, which would be the same as the 30th ranked team

If there is a next season then the most likely to get the 1st overall are:

    Penguins
    Blackhwaks
    Capitals
    Jackets
    Coyotes

Personally I hope he end up in Coyotes or the Blackawks. I think it is best for the NHL, the team and Crosby himself if he end up in Chicago Blackhawks.

I've got a nagging feeling Bettman will use any lottery to Pat Ewing him to the Rangers.

  13. I just pray Washington doesn't get him... yikes...

I hope Chicago gets Crosby, I really do.

That is, if the Penguins don't.

Crosby is a Free Agent next season!!

There have already been rumors last season that crosby was headed to a swiss team. however it never happend. maybe 2005.

It would be nice if he plays next season for my home club zsc lions. They are building a new stadium for over 130 millions.

the lockout continues til 2006 and the team owners will base a new national hockey league. THE NHL HASN`T A FUTURE.

also i think that in the next years the top europe players will stay in europe instead go to north america. especially the russia teams r willing to spend a lot of money in players.

As long as he ends up with an original 6 team I am very happy. I really don't want him to end up in a sunny state where hockey is least watched sport, the NHL needs to make sure he ends up on a team with lots of fans and start marketing this kid ala Lebron James.

How about who ever has the first overall pick or I got a better answer, how about the team that has the worst NHL record.

This reasoning doesn't make sence to me. People in Minnesota for example who are going to games when they start up again, already have their tickets. Minnesota has 16000 season ticket holders
Placing Crosby on a "sunny state" team would fit your NHL marketing theory better.

It makes me wonder if any of the poorer teams, medicore teams, or the Avalanche would intentionally blow a season to get him drafted.
