Dave Goucher's sudden departure from Bruins radio today has many broadcasters quickly putting together a demo reel from both the NHL and AHL.

There is precious little time as the first preseason game is less than 5 weeks. One name has already surfaced and it is John Bartlett who has done English TV for Montreal but lost his gig when the contract moved to TSN starting in the fall.

Complicating this is 98.5's possible sale to Entercom which won't be final until after the season starts but it is no secret that Dale Arnold misses play by play and now that his kids have left the nest it could happen.

Nick Gagalis who has done Providence Bruins might have a shot at the big time.

Don't laugh at this but Jon Meterparel might be interested. :help: and there is always Dave Shea :shakehead

Given how little time there is you might see auditions during the preseason games.

I like Dale, I feel like some don't though.

    Whats Tom Caron up to?

Nooooooo! I'd like someone new, not recycled voices that weren't that good to begin with - although I'm sure thats exactly what NESN will give us..

NESN has nothing to do with radio.

True, Dale and Caron work for them though...also considering the fact Edwards could end up on the radio...

also, there's not much time and then Spectra takes another announcer position away ('18/19), depends who's available in other media companies, in other markets.....

Nick Gagalis was terrible doing the P-Bruins games, he won't even be a passing thought for this job.

I'm OK with Dale - but not back on TV. I could tolerate him on radio play by play.

They need to know their hockey and must be a Bruins fan #1.

    I agree

Bartlett might be the best option. He was the Habs announcer for a few years but he is out of work as they changed networks.

Goucher got a tv gig, eh? Good for him. Living in Toronto, I catch all the games on TV so I don't listen to the Bruins on the radio, but I do enjoy hearing his voice when watching clips with the radio call dubbed over.

I never liked Bartlett, and not just because he called Habs games, but part of me would like to see him get the gig because my father-in-law is a Habs fan and always says how good Bartlett is.

Edit: My father-in-law said having Bartlett call the Bruins would be like Rene Rancourt wearing a Habs jersey and singing the anthem in MTL. Overreaction, sure. But now I want to see it happen. Bartlett.....not Rene.

I'm not quite sure why but that voice doesn't sound like something I want to hear on the radio while driving.

In his perch in the press box in Montreal, Bob Wilson, the longtime radio voice of the Bruins, led listeners through his pregame setup. It was a potential series clincher for the Habs. With almost a stand-up comic's refined delivery, The Voice fired off the names of Montreal's hot scorers. Based on Wilson's frustrated tone and, the French names rolling from his tongue in near perfect accent, another end was upon his beloved B's.

"That rounds out the Montreal attack," boomed Wilson, segueing directly out of the roll call of Canadiens scorers. "And who do the Bruins counter with, but Lyndon Byers . . . who couldn't put the puck in the ocean if he was standing at the end of the dock!"

All i know is the new guy better get used to Bob Beers talking all over him during a broadcast. I like Beers but I was often amazed at Goucher's patience.

Tom Caron is the most annoying man on the planet. I hate Mini 1 on 1 with a asson and i literally change the channel when it comes on..... and I really think it's because of him. Dale, also is a horrendous horrendous PBP guy. Hopefully they find someone solid. Extremely large shoes to fill

Bob Wilson was an absolute gem. Wish he got more credit and exposure to younger fans. We were so lucky to have him and Fred Cusick doing the games at the same time.
