I should have had Lindros as an HM, and I guess I could have Sakic, though I really think Sakic's best stretch was 1999 - 2004. Basically in the regular seaosn in the 1990s, I think Sakic was a clear step down from Oates. Maybe I should have included him based on his 1996 playoffs alone.

Jagr was awesome in the 2nd half of the decade, but really wasn't anything special before 1995. He'd have a good case for #1 from the 1995-2007 timeframe though.

just saying, Oates and Sakic were 10 points apart in the same GP in the 1990s, but Sakic had 100 more goals. He was more or less even with Yzerman over the course of the decade, too.

I think there are 7 forwards who legitimately have a shot at a top-10 for the decade: Gretzky, Lemieux, Yzerman, Sakic, Messier, Oates, Hull. they all peaked at a high enough level and played enough of the decade (except in Lemieux's case, but ya know...)

Including all of 90s: '89-90 through '99-00

I would narrow it down to Jagr, Lemieux, and Hasek.

Roy, Gretzky, Hull, Brodeur, Bourque, etc. after that.

There was just an absurd amount of talent in the 90s:

G- Hasek, Roy, Brodeur, Belfour, Joseph, etc.
D- Bourque, Chelios, Lidstrom, Stevens, MacInnis, Leetch, Pronger, Fetisov, Blake, Zubov, etc.
F- Lemieux, Jagr, Gretzky, Messier, Hull, Yzerman, Sakic, Fedorov, Forsberg, Selanne, Lindros, Bure, Gilmour, Oates, Robitaille, Shanahan, Sundin, Modano, Francis, Lafontaine, Fleury, Leclair, Kariya, Neely, Mogilny, etc.

Adjusted leaders in bold.

Lemieux dominates the per-game metrics, while only Jagr is consistently near the top in both totals and per-game metrics. Those two are omnipresent in the leaders for all-star selections, top 3 in Hart (all players & forwards only), and playoff metrics as well.

Lemieux made it look easy when he did play, but he played less than half the games. Jagr was consistently dominant for most of the '90s (7+ consecutive years out of 11).

Adjusted Points Above Replacement & GCAR:

AR is > .5 PPG or .2 GCPG
