It's not even a debate IMO. Newton has been detrimental to the team for a while now. I don't know if Allen can keep this up but he's easily the best option for the team.

I keep seeing people who want Cam backup saying things like "Allen is a backup for reason"
To me this is nonsense take as he is just 23 yrs old so he very much could be the guy Panthers can build around
Its not like Allen is a 32 yr old coming from CFL who has had a good game or two

The ceiling of a healthy Cam Newton is still miles higher than Kyle Allen.
Allen's getting by using CMC and a good defense but healthy Cam can take this offense to another level imo. It is very important he is healthy though, as he has been much worse when dealing with an injury.

At the very least it gives him more time to heal his wounds...if theres anything left to be salvaged
