Who should Edm draft with their two picks:

Even though I'm an Edmonton fan:

1. Adam Larsson/Sean Couturier (for some reason he is now rated 6th)
2a. Duncan Siemens (somehow rated 23rd)
2b. Mark McNeill (who is now rated 26th)

Most fans will probably say that Edmonton should take RNH/Larsson with the first.

Pretty much this. (Oiler fan)

EDIT: Still undecided.

1.Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
2a. David Musil
2b. Rickard Rakell

Also if Jamieson Oleksiak is left on the board take him! Big stron defensmen that can take punishment and dish it out. He could go around 17th - 20th though, so cross your fingers

Larsson 1st
McNeil 17-21st (hopefully still there)

then hopefully move up by packaging 31, 61 and 78? (Flames 3rd) up to 21-24 and hopefully take Musil or Oleksiak.

Maybe wishful thinking, but not a stretch by any means. Just not sure about the depth of this draft providing incentive for a team to move out of the 1st rd.

I'm going to say Adam Larsson at the moment but if for whatever reason, the Oilers don't pick first overall and he's gone by then, I'm gonna go with the safe bet in Gabriel Landeskog.

Reason I say Landeskog is because it seems as if the Oilers are truly lacking size, grit, character and leadership in their skilled forward positions and I feel that he'd fill the void Penner left quite nicely.

In terms of LA's pick, they should look at using that pick with another pick to move up in the draft a get a defenceman that plays an all-around game. A player that skates well, isn't afraid to take the body and has tremendous hockey sense.

As for the center position, the Oilers desperately need a guy who is experienced and very effective at taking face-offs and the only way you can get someone of that calibre is if you trade for him or acquire through free agency. I for one wouldn't mind the Oilers going after a guy like Marty Reasoner even though he's been here before. He's already proven he can play in key situation such as the penalty kill and we all know how terrible the Oiler's PK is at the moment!

Where is Couturier rated sixth and Siemens rated 23rd?

Button also said Ellis would have gone top 5 in the 09 draft redo, shortly before the 2010 draft

I'm going a bit off the wagon here and thinking Couturier and Huberdeau. Then we can look at moving Gagner for a young defenseman. Then I draft toughness with both our 3rd round picks unless something is really appealing there. I'd be surprised if Huberdeau would be in the 14-22 range but he is ranked 13th by ISS, so I guess it could be possible.

How is Landeskog playing since he came back from his injury? I would love to have a player like him in our top 6. We do need grit in the top 6 and having two players in Landeskog and Hall would be fantastic.

Oleksiak at 6 "7" and 244 already, if he skates better than Myers you have to take a look at him for sure. Having that much size and strenth on the back end will make our team that much better. How does he play though, is he hard to play against and uses his size and strength to hit and move the body.

Larsson + Mika Zibanejad would be ideal.

I don't know why, but I'm more excited about the LA 1st than the EDM 1st.

It seems that most people want to go with a dman and a centreman but they choices are so different and you have to expect that.

What are the possibilities of the following three being a bust.
RNH
Couturier
Larrson

I just have this funny feeling that one of these 3 will not have the NHL career that has them going in the top 5.

I feel RNH and couturier have similar ceilings and RNH has a wayyy higher bust risk. If they both pan out RNH could be a great scorer with great hands and speed, and couturier could be a great power forward like a Joe Thornton or Eric Staal. But at worst I feel couturier will be an effictive big body on the 2nd or 3rd line while if RNH doesnt pan out hes small and isnt exactly an energy guy, without his scoring threats, hes almost nothing. Larsson I feel (although not seeing him play much), is a pretty safe bet to be at least an average top 2 pairings defencemen

+1.

I agree with all of this. I really like Nugent-Hopkins and musil.

I like Larsson, but #1 centres are so hard to sign or trade for. Plus, I think the Oilers Head Scout Stu macGregor is very high on RNH.

I see Hall and Eberle playing with a smart, shifty playmaker like RNH.

I haven't seen Rakell or Oleksiak, but I like everything that I hear.

Adam Larsson and Puempel/Saad/Huberdeau or Couturier and Oleksiak/Musil.
