I always like reading these before the season ramps up.

Who on your favourite team looks ready to surprise this year? Could be a rookie stepping in, or a pro stepping up.

Vet: Krejci. Don’t make me hate you this year. Hopefully stays awake through most of the season

Youngster: Debrusk just seems like a guy that gets it and has the skills to keep getting better

Leivo looks like he may play some hockey this year, Kapanen and Johnsson are both likely to be full time NHLers.

Jesse Puljujarvi is a beast! Finally putting together the amazing toolbox he has.

Ty Rattie could put up numbers playing on our high chemistry 1st line.

Kailer Yamamoto can have a nice year if Leon Draisaitl gets going.

To contribute to my own thread, no one on the Canucks looks like they're going to step up other than Pettersson to be honest.

I expect Horvat to continue his gradual upward offensive trajectory, especially playing with Boeser for a full year and grtting more pp time.

The defence is trash apart from Edler and Tanev. The guy's you hoped would step up like Stecher and Hutton thus far have not looked good.

Konecny.

Started slow in his sophomore season but as soon as he was put on a line with Giroux and Couts he took off scoring 37 points in his last 45 games (67 point pace). This year, at age 21, with another year of experience under him and a full year on the top line I expect 30+ goals and close to 70 points.

Athanasiou.

Vanek brings out the best of him. He's always had the talent, but lacked compete level and consistency. He looks like he's finally engaged and having fun out there due to Vanek. He completely dominated the Hawks two nights ago, with 5 points and good defense.

Would not be surprised to see 25-30 goals and 50-60 points

Mike Reilly has looked great in camp and will be given every opportunity to succeed. Same with Mete.

Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Reilly, Kadri, Hyman, Matthews, Gardiner, Dermott, Kapanen, and Marleau all could take big steps.
