Pre season begins tonight ladies and gents! The question is simple. I specifically included players that may or may not make the team and left the obvious players that are locks to make it off limits. I voted Holloway, Broberg, Skinner, Ryan, Neimaleinen, and Murray.

I don't think Bourgault makes it but he gets a call up in March.

I think there's a slight chance Virtanen makes it since he is the kind of tough physical forward that would be useful on the 4th line but I ultimately didn't vote for him. His KHL numbers stink and I don't think he's good enough anymore.

Holloway, Skinner, Virtanen and Murray.

This is a trick question, Broberg makes the opening day roster for cap reasons. Then maybe he gets sent to Bakersfield. Or maybe he sticks, it will be a close call. All he has to do is use his natural abilities with a little more control. Defense, the high percentage play, and the safe play first.

Holloway, Skinner make the cut.

Ryan makes it as the RH face off guy and Murray for depth.

Broberg and Bourgeault are in season call ups.

Virtanen, Demers and Shore outright released

Niemelainen sent down if he can clear waivers. Could be a waiver casualty.

Niemelainen doesn't require waivers so don't have to worry about that.

I thought both Nemo and Samaroukov required waivers clearance now..
Samu should be added to the poll.

When Niemelainen signed he was old enough that his ELC was 2 years but still young enough that he is waiver exempt for 3 years.

They won’t be keeping Holloway up to play 8 minutes as the 4C

Didn't have time to check out the oilers for their preseason due to work schedule, how did Virtanen did?

I liked Benson's game tonight. Simple, yet effective. Made some good passes on the 2 on 1's he had.
If we can have a 13th forward (I haven't kept up to date on just how tight it is), I think Benson is in the running for that gig. He seems like the perfect guy to have around the team in practices and ease his way into the lineup with a more occasional start. If Holloway makes the team, that makes 12 forwards (assuming Shore is sent down as well)

I bet Benson gets claimed if we waive him. That's a factor.

For defense, that seems kind of set to me. Again, the competition seems like it's for the 7th spot. I didn't watch the whole game but I was wondering about Murray, and if he could lose that #6 spot to someone like Niemelainen or even Demers. As of now, I still have Murray there.

Very disappointing to hear, you thought having such adversity in life will wake someone up, i guess not.
Ya, I have an open mind to him getting a second chance. I’m not saying I’m pulling for him or hoping he makes the cut, by any means. I just think though that he is a young man who should be able to move on in his professional and personal life.

Yesterdays game he just didn’t seem to put forward the effort I expected. Hes not the most fleet of foot and his hockey IQ seemed to not put him in the right position at times. That said, he plays tonight again in Seattle, so maybe the nerves are now settled and he shows different. We will see I guess.

Ryan the cap-causality until there's a trade/injury.
