I know most other devils fans posted this allready but Voros should become a good powerforward. His defense and speed must get better though or NJ would give him the shot.

Anthony Stewart and Steve Bernier are two guys who come to my mind. Both need to assert themselves more consistently however.

The thought of Stewarts speed with his size and abilities, and the unreal puckhandling of Bernier with his size is pretty attractive.

I think Ovechkin is the next great PF that comes to mind.

Ovechkin I feel doesn't play like a prototypical PF. He is more like a forsberg or Ruutu where he will throw a hit here and there, plays physical but his mainly a skilled player.

I don't disagree. I think though when you stick him on the smaller ice surface his mean streak will come out. A lot of the goals he scores in the RSL and junior tournaments, IMO, just won't cut it in the NHL.

Ben Eager's likely upside is a decent third liner at best. The guy is big, strong, and can skate, but he still doesn't have near the skill to ever become a powerforward. I'm hoping he can become more disciplined as he matures and turn into an energy player who can chip in the odd goal.
Well... he's got great hands, based on what i've seen him play in oshawa. I can't wait to see him get a shot at the nhl.

Someone besides me high on Marc-Andre Bernier? Great :D I'm going to say the next best thing is going to be Nathan Horton, or Rick Nash.
:yo:

:handclap:

I like him alot... i drafted him in my keeper league that year... and i think he's a a sleeper of the draft, for sure!!! Took him 2nd round... no one had heard of him Haha

Great list!

Interesting you have Marc-Andre Bernier in there. I mean, he's got great hands, a strong shot, but his skating will hold him back I think. I'm actually quite worried about his skating, because he almost plays as if he's given up on his skating. I've watched him probably 30 times over the last two years, and while I like his hands and shot, his skating scares me, and I don't see much improvement at all.

Now, if he had Ben Eager's wheels, he'd be right there with those other guys. Likewhise, if Eager had Bernier's offensive skills, he'd be a better player. Personally, I think Eager will be a great fighter who could be taught to become a good grinder too. I think he could actually become a hell of a checking line winger, but, I would be very surprised if Eager ever puts up 50 points in the NHL. Eager and Bernier morphed into one would be quite a good player, but on their own, they have major flaws that will I think will hold them back.
I think they'll develop and grow as players still... watch and see ;)

If he had such great hands in Oshawa, I'm pretty sure his career year in juniors would be more than 25 goals. Eager's hands will never have anything to do with his career. If he makes it it'll be because he's big, physical, and extremely fast. Basically a powerforward with no real offensive capabilty, which really isn't a powerforward at all. They're called muckers or grinders in today's NHL.

Why doesnt Tukonen get any mention in this thread? No I have never seen him play but he arguably does have the frame to be a power forward. Hes already nearing 200lbs (198lbs) and is 6 2, thats only 10 lbs less that Iginla (+/- 1-3) and 1 inch taller. The size could be there. I think we should all give him a good look see in the WJC coming up, he should get early mentions but nothing expected of him to become one.

What about Edmonton's J.F. Jacques? Huge guy with loads of offensive abilities and is captain material.

6-4 215
32 points in 27 games in the 'Q'. Has been in control of his PIMs lately, but is still virtually a point and PIM per game player.

Not that he would be my choice over Horton, Stewart or the likes, but just wanted to throw out a name I didn't see mentioned, instead of regurgitating the same stuff almost everyone else is.

back to the Chucko debate...he sure looked like a powerfoward last night. Scored a nice goal right in front of the goal, played physical all night. He is definately a PF in my book.
