I was looking over Mark Recchi's career by accident and it made an impression on me that he was his teams #1 scorer 7x times through his career on different teams over a period of 13 years.

Now, I don't think he tops the list with regards to this, most probably that title belongs to Gretzky although I haven't looked into it. So who are some other players noteworthy in this aspect?

First non art ross winner to think of was Sundin, he lead the leafs 8 season in a row (12 of is 13 season with the leaf he lead the team in scoring), did lead the Nordique at least once.

He had 13 seasons in his NHL career where he led a team in scoring.

I'd check Mike Modano too, in the same vein.

I believe Gretzky did this 19 times in his 20 seasons. (The lone exception being 1992-93 when he missed half the season.)

That is a little surprising about Recchi.

I think Vince Damphousse does surprisingly well, too.

Add Stan Mikita to the '10 times, total' list. Thought I'd go and check Bathgate, too- only came up with eight. [But they were consecutive.] Kane is sitting at 7, but he has a four-in-a-row going.

Looked up Jágr: 11 times with three different teams (PIT/WSH/NYR).

Most times leading their team in points (NOTE: In cases where multiple players tied for the lead in points, I have not used any tiebreaker but have given each of them nod as leading their team in scoring), minimum of five times:

It's crazy Yzerman led the 1997–98 Red Wings with just 69 points. Very DPE.

The year Sundin was outscored by Mogilny in Toronto Mogilny also handedly outscored him in the playoffs. I guess that's the Mogilny Kevin Wong's trying to sell in with his mainboard article.

Great work up there. Would be interesting to see the same with purely goals scored. There'd be quite the overlap, I am sure, but it'd change somewhat. Guys like Oates or Henrik Sedin wouldn't make the lists for instance, and players like Robitaille or the Hull's would perhaps do even better.

In seasons where the season has, say, 70+ games, who lead their team in scoring with the fewest points? Is it still Scott Pellerin's 39 points on the 2001 Wild?

Figured Sundin would be up there. He was quite often the main player for those late 90's early 2000's Leafs teams.

Nick Bjugstad led the Florida Panthers in scoring in 2013-14 with 38 points (in 76 GP).

I think that record still stands.

Ouch. Thanks for that. Any ideas for the goal or assist leader?

For goals, there was a 3-way tie on the 2001 Minnesota Wild (18 goals each - eighteen year old rookie Gaborik, defensive specialist Wes Walz, and depth utility player Darby Hendrickson).

For assists - it must be Bjugstad (22 assists) here as well?

Interesting that Lafleur led the Habs in playoff scoring in 71-72 with 1 goal and 4 assists. Was not expecting that. However, if we go by most goals wins when there is a tie for scoring lead, its actually Frank Mahovlich who leads that year with 3 goals and 2 assists.

I haven't looked into goal or assist leaders.

However Brian Campbell had 30 assists that year for the Panthers so Bjugstad didn't have a team lead in assists (nor in goals as Brad Boyes had 21 goals).

I believe Gretzky did this 19 times in his 20 seasons. (The lone exception being 1992-93 when he missed half the season.)

That is a little surprising about Recchi.

I think Vince Damphousse does surprisingly well, too.

Surprisingly, damphousse only led the leafs in scoring once, which happened to be his final season there. By the way, what happened in Toronto that year? Damphousse has over 70 points, and the next closest guy on the team has 30 something points. This is in 90/91 when goals were pouring in. That's putrid.

He led the oilers in his only season there, and he led the habs twice.

So he did it 4 times. I think he seems to have more 2nd place finishes in his career, actually.
