Who had the better season, OV in 07/08 or McDavid in 16/17?

I am really struggling to find any reason to pick McDavid here

Nope.

2009 Malkin with Art Ross, and historic Conn Smythe

I meant regular season (pretty sure that's what the op was about too).

But hart, lindsay, Rocket > Ross and smythe. Especially because the Hart and lindsay were landslide wins against Malkin. And OV beat Malkin in PPG too. And he was the best player when they went head to head in the playoffs.

I don't even see why this is a question. McDavid's Art Ross win was the 2nd or 3rd weakest since the 04-05 lockout, only definitely beating out 2015 Benn and maybe 2011 D Sedin. Ovechkin had 65 goals that year.

2015|Jamie Benn|3rd|1|7|19
2014|Sidney Crosby|1st|20|27|32
2013|Marty St. Louis|2nd|5|9|22
2012|Evgeni Malkin|1st|12|31|40
2011|Daniel Sedin|1st**|5|14|35
2010|Henrik Sedin|2nd|3|18|30
2009|Evgeni Malkin|2nd|3|20|28
2008|Alex Ovechkin|1st|6|17|29
2007|Sidney Crosby|1st|5|18|26

Yup. Connor's Art Ross is right in line with the others. Not exceptionally strong, but definitely not weak either. Malkin in 11-12 was really dominant when you consider he even missed seven games.

It is very close to Crosby's 2007 win, all things considered. More middle of the pack.

16/17 there was 2.99 pp average per a game. 07/08 there 4.28 pp. With those extra pp Mcdavid probably would of easily had an extra 10 points or so.

It is really close but i will give a slight edge to Ovechkin. There arguments for both ways.
