I read somewhere though that the Habs will save money if they buy him out now rather than later.

Something along the lines that if they buy him out now they will save a couple million over the life of the contract and have less of an impact on the cap.

Maybe someone who knows this situation better can chime in?

Nevermind: I found the link.
Montreal Canadiens Need To Buy Out Karl Alzner Immediately

Basically, the article explains the benefit why Alzner should be bought out this offseason.

We don't need that kind of money for a while though, unless we make a strong push for Karlsson or Duchene then we might since Domi's extension might make us tighten our budget. I'm sure we can just ride out Alzner's contract for the most part.

Trying to get this back on track.

Condon?

Condon is finally healthy after a long, slow recovery from a stem cell treatment that saw him have stem cells harvested from his pelvis and implanted into his ailing hip. It would be odd to buy him out when he's finally healthy, especially when their starting goaltender is in his late 30's.

Just seeing

Anderson 4.75M
Condon 2.4M
Nilsson 2.6M (just re-signed)

Something is happening there.

I am pretty sure you are a Leaf fan so this is surprising. Ennis was a very good pickup for the Leafs. He played almost 4th line minutes the whole year and made the line way better, and still scored some nice goals.
Although Ferrisrox is in literally EVERY thread that even remotely involves the Leafs....no, he's not a Leafs fan.

small possibility is andy macodnald just to cut complete bait with him. Though if they eat 50% he is tradeable at 2.5m imo

There’s no room for Condon in Ottawa after the team re-signed Nilsson. He either gets bought out or traded for a worse contract to help Ottawa get to the floor. For example, Clarkson.

Oilers:

Most like Manning (he's ass) or Gagner (produced at decent 3rd line pace with us)

We can easily trade Russel away with like 500k retained, Sekera will be kept around as a mentor to the wealth of young dmen coming up. A Lucic buyout makes little sense considering they way it would be structured.
