Tri-City Americans have traded G Drew Owsley (& a 7th round pick) to Prince George. The Ams get G Ty Rimmer, a 3rd in 2012 & 5th in 2013.

Seems to me this means that TC is going to be going with a combo of Rimmer and Comrie.

Is there any way for a player from western canada to play in the OHL or Q?
How about an Ontario player moving to Dub or Q?

A player would have to clear waivers from his league before becoming eligible.

It happened with former Brandon Wheatkings goalie Jacob Deserres last fall when he was cut from the team as a 20 year old. He went unclaimed and was grabbed by the Saint John Sea Dogs and went on to be there starter in the Mem Cup.

Matthew Peca is trying to get to the Q via Kitchener, Windsor, Otawa , Kingston.( waived does not want to report???)

It looks like Branch has stepped in, stay tuned

Another AMS deal

Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has acquired 17-year-old defenseman Matt Benning from the Kootenay Ice in exchange for a conditional 3rd and 6th round picks in the 2012 Bantam Draft. Matt is the son of former NHL defenseman, Brian Benning. “Matt is an intelligent defenseman who brings a wealth of potential,†explained Tory. “This deal gives us tremendous young depth on our blueline and sets us up for the future. I hope to be able to sit down with Matt and Brian and complete the recruiting process so we can see Matt in our training camp in a few weeks.â€

Will Benning report? He stayed away from the Ice and rumour has it that he is going tne NCAA route. If he reported to the Ice last year, he might have been on the championship squad.

Great pickup for Kelowna. Get a guy who can replace Barrie on the blueline for the next few years.

Let's see him play before we call him the replacement for the WHL's top defenceman 2 years ago and the runner up for the award last year... Big shoes to fill.

Myles Bell will be a motivated pickup who contributes an all round game. But watch out for Madison Bowey
who I think will add offense quickly and establish himself as a quality offenseman even as a 16 year old rookie.

Kid was phenomenal at the Macs Midget Tourament with first team all star honors as as 15 year old.

The Victoria Royals have made another deal, landing D-Man H. Rintoul from Kootenay, and a conditional bantam pick, for F D. McKinlay:

http://victoriaroyals.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32:royals-trade-for-defenceman-hayden-rintoul&catid=1:news-rotator&Itemid=6

Sounds like a good move for both, as McKinlay is an NHL pick, Rintoul is what Marc is looking for with the loss of Manning.

Hey if it works for you it works for us. Mckinlay is playing well out here and we had to dump a 20 year old. One thing to know about Rintoul is though he plays really good then he plays really bad there is no medium.

We all know that Scherbak has been dealt to the Tips: whl.production.mrx.ca/article/blades-trade-scherbak-to-silvertips

Blazers get Winther from Calgary, nice upgrade for them, with Hay there looks like they are trying to be competitive and make the playoffs, as for the Hitmen, it's a bit puzzling considering this team was stacked and have just weakened themselves: whl.production.mrx.ca/article/blazers-acquire-winther-from-hitmen

Hitmen made another move by offloading Padakin to Regina, which isn't a surprise considering they had 3 imports: whl.production.mrx.ca/article/hitmen-trade-padakin-to-pats

An interesting assessment on Winther being traded. From my understanding it was going to come down to Rankin or Winther. Haven't heard anyone definitively choose Winther over Rankin until your post. I believe they are choosing the more defensively responsible 20 year old that has worn a letter on his previous team over the offensive minded 20 year old who has never worn a letter and wouldn't make the top line on the Hitmen anyway. That was the general consensus/discussion at any rate... I was expecting Winther to be moved...

The Chiefs get forward Brooks from the Raiders, adding some leadership, but not scoring: http://whl.ca/article/chiefs-acquire-brooks-from-raiders

The T-Birds and Blades deal D-men, Blades certainly look to have gotten the better player here, as they add scoring and veteran leadership on the back end in Henry, T-Birds get unknown youth in Ottenbreit: http://whl.ca/article/thunderbirds-and-blades-make-trade

Blades were not done dealing on the back end, as they sent Nikkel to the Broncos for Bevan: http://whl.ca/article/blades-and-broncos-swap-defencemen

Portland are off to a bad start, so decided they needed to shake things up already by getting forward Koules from the Tigers: http://whl.ca/article/tigers-send-koules-to-winterhawks

Portland with another fishy deal.#moneytalks

Brandon using Lethbridge as their farm team once again.

What a joke of a franchise.
