Which Team Would Have Benefitted the Most From Taking the Player that Went 1 Pick Later?

You always read these articles/post that look at re-drafting a top 10 or re-drafting the first round or in hindsight, the team at #4 overall should have taken the guy that went 55th overall who is now an all-star. Instead of that, it's pretty simple...since two guys that go back to back are generally thought of in similar regard in the draft (beyond the #1 elite prospects obviously), which team would currently benefit the most if they had drafted the player that went right after their actual selection? A couple off the hop:

2012 - Islanders take Reilly instead of Reinhart
2013 - Lightning take Jones instead of Drouin
2014 - Sabres take Leo instead of Reinhart
2015 - Arizona takes Marner over Strome, Bruins take Barzal instead of Senyshyn

2010: Ryen Johansen instead of Gudbranson
2010: Kuznetsov instead of Howden
2010: Faulk instead of Petrovic
2010: Jarnkrok instead of Brickley

The Panthers drafted: 36g 108A 144pts and could have had 343g 670A 1013pts

That's how you screw up the start of your rebuild.

I feel like I should report this message as being offensive. I'm not sureif it's even legal to draft that bad.

If the Oilers drafted Seguin instead of Hall, a lot of things could have played out differently.

A Center is as valuable as a Right Handed Dman.

We maybe could have likely gotten Seth Jones for Seguin or Draisaitl, instead of Nashville settling on RyJo.

He was actually taken 2 picks later but the Habs took David Fischer who was a reach at #20 instead of Claude Giroux. I remember most Habs fans wanted Giroux at the time too.

Dallas loves this game.

Morgan Frost instead of Jake Oettinger (Potentially)

Dylan Larkin instead of Julius Honka

J.T. Miller instead of Jamie Oleksiak

Cam Fowler instead of Jack Campbell

Jared Cowan instead of Scott Glennie (They both suck, but Cowan at least made the NHL)

Nick Foligno instead of Ivan Vishnevskyi

That’s only first rounders...

Nothing crazy for the Hawks, but here are a few:
2008: Kyle Beach before Tyler Myers
2011: Mark McNeil before Oscar Klefbom
2012: Teuvo Teravainen before Andre Vasilevskiy
2012: Travis Brown before Alexander Kerfoot

This is obviously super cherry picking but:

1989
#52 Hartford Whalers pick Blair Atcheynum (196GP 27G 33A 60P)
#53 Detroit Red Wings pick Nicklas Lidstrom (1564GP 264G 878A 1142P)

#73 Hartford Whalers pick Jim McKenzie (880GP 48G 52A 100P)
#74 Detroit Red Wings pick Sergei Fedorov (1248GP 483G 696A 1179P)

#115 Hartford Whalers pick Jerome Bechard (0GP 0G 0A 0P)
#116 Detroit Red Wings pick Dallas Drake (1009GP 177G 300A 477P)

#220 Hartford Whalers pick John Battice (0G 0G 0A 0P)
#221 Detroit Red Wings pick Vladimir Konstantinov (446GP 47G 128A 175P)

10 years later the Red Wings have two cups and dominate the league while the Whalers have become the Carolina Hurricanes. Scouting pays off...

For the Blues: 1998 Draft
Pick 170: Blues select: Andrei Trochinsky
Pick 171: Red Wings select: Pavel Datsyuk

I think Hartford had it the worst in 1989.
Edit: Never mind. Just saw the post above say the same thing. Yeah, 1989 was brutal for Hartford

Edit: I take my Blues answer back. Correct answer is 1984
Pick 50: Toby Ducolon
Pick 51: Patrick Roy

Imagine the 80s/90s/00s Blues with Patrick Roy.

I guess in 2014 the Flames could’ve had taken Nylander or Ehlers with the 4th overall pick, but Bennett was the obvious choice at the time.
