I'd imagine any of 4 through 6 could miss the playoffs. New Jersey started really strong and seem to be coming back down to earth a bit lately - still a super young team - could go either way. Rangers, despite their good record in November don't look that good - I could see them on the outside looking in. Pens have Crosby/Malkin/Kessel/Murray, so anything is possible, but they've played a LOT of hockey the last 2 years. Flip a coin?

I honestly think NJD will regress, big time. Just a hunch. Areas of weakness are starting to show.

Islanders and Devils come back down to earth

2015 - 101 points
2016 - 100 points
2017 under Weight (40 games) - 106 point pace
2018 - currently on a 101 point pace

With 29 of their last 52 games coming at home where they are 9-1-2, and most of their WC games finished, don't count on the Islanders slipping much if at all.

It's possible your right, the goaltending holding up will be key...

Do we really need 6 threads on the same subject?

Also it could be anyone. All the teams here have lots of positives but they also all have flaws. Don’t think anyone is safe, if someone was they would have shown some separation.

Isles and Devils are relying on a lot of youth, so that could go either way. Devils D is shaky, Isles are shaky in net.

Rangers are playing much better hockey from their start, but they don’t really stand out as being clearly better then the other 5 on this list. Pitt and Wash have the track records, but I think Wash is a step down from last year and Pitt might be running on fumes from so many deep playoff runs, same thing happened to LA. Also their D doesn’t blow me away.

Columbus is good but just seems to be missing something.

This is too close to call for me at this juncture. It might take a trade or a bad injury to knock someone loose and clear this up.
