With Jordan Harris' signing (1.4M x2) yesterday it looks like HuGo have started negotiating with our RFA's. Curious who signs next and for how much. Here's my predictions on terms:

Caufield, Cole (22) = 7.1M x 7 (Same as D. Cozens)
Ylönen, Jesse (23) = 1.0 / 250k x2 (Two Way Contract)
Harvey-Pinard, Rafaël (24) = 1.0 / 250k x2 (Two Way Contract)
Pezzetta, Michael (24) = 850K x2
Condotta, Lucas (25) = Not re-signed
Schnarr, Nathan (23) = Not re-signed
Teasdale, Joël (23) = 750 / 100k x2 (Two Way Contract)
Richard, Anthony (26) = 750k x2
Stephens, Mitchell (26) = Not re-signed
Beaudin, Nicolas (23) = 900 / 250k x2 (Two Way Contract)
Leskinen, Otto (26) = I think he'll walk

I don't know enough about our Laval Center's so if someone thinks different about Condotta, Schnarr, or Stephens please chime in

Caufield should get an 8 year deal.
Ylonen probably just takes a 1 year deal.
RHP could get anything between 1-3 years.
Pezzetta another 1 year.
Condotta maybe an AHL deal.
Schnarr will be gone.
Teasdale maybe an AHL deal.
Richard could go somewhere else, so 50/50 he signs another 1 year.
Stephens won't be re-signed.
Beaudin might get a 1 year deal.
Leskinen will go back to Finland.

That's pretty much my thinking too.

I don't think Anthony Richard and the organization see eye to eye. A bit like Dea last year.

Teasdale and Condotta might take AHL deals if they don't find a NHL contract elesewhere.

Why only 1 year for Ylonen? Player choice or HuGo's?

Richard is having a career year plus I think he'll get time with the Habs after the TDL. I'd be surprised if he chooses to move on with the real possibility of getting NHL time with a rebuilding Habs team. Do you think he'll leave because he'll get a guarantee NHL job or more money somewhere else? My proposal was a one way contract guaranteed at 750k in Laval or Montreal

Sign Caufield around $7M for 8 years. Ylonen 1 year 1 way league minimum.

RHP gets a 2-way deal for 1 year. Probably plays in the NHL, though.

Pezzetta I'd offer 1 year league minimum. Don't think he sticks in NHL past next year.

Rest is AHL fodder. I'd definitely keep Richard though, he looks good this year.

I think it will be players choice, he's still RFA after its done, so I would imagine he would think next year would be his year to establish with the Habs vs signing a longer term deal in the AHL/NHL nebula he's in this year.

Richard I just think there's a bit of sourness in him, making stupid statements like he didn't get an opportunity when he was called up (dude you played with Suzuki some games), so I think he'll sign on somewhere else rebuilding like Chicago and really take his shot.

Here’s my humble take on the situation:

- [NHL top-6] Caufield : Somewhere in-between the Robertson and Cozens signings, namely at least 7M AAV for at least 5 years;

- [NHL full-time auditioners] RHP / Ylonen : Under 1M AAV, 2 years;

- [Potential NHL depth] Beaudin / Richard / Teasdale / Pezzeta : Minimum wage, 2 years;

- [AHL depth] Condotta / Schnarr / Stephens / Leskinen.

This being said, it will be very interesting to see the Habs’ strategy regarding Barron and Xhekaj next summer. Both will be RFAs and considering the Habs’ D corps projected budget the seasok after - Matheson-Savard-Guhle-Harris signed for a meager cumulative 11M - I can definitively see both, especially Xhekaj, being extended long term instead of bridged.

Next to sign will be struble

Chronogically, it’s either him or Caufield, but I can definitely see Struble be leveraged as collateral to optimise another player’s trade value (Edmundson, Monahan) at TDL 2023 ; if only because he might not be too enthused about the plethora of young LHDs ahead of him in the depth chart and might thus consider not signing his ELC with the organisation this summer?
