I'm pretty sure the question implies those who are playing in the CHL or NCAA... if said Russian is in one of those leagues, then yes he will care.

If he does care more for those foreign champonships than for the World Chmapionship he is downright a strange dude.

Stanley Cup is nice and all, but it's just a short tourney...:sarcasm:

Couple things may be misinterpreted, and perhaps the placement of your /s, but,

The Stanley Cup Playoffs come off a long ass season where you need to grind and fight your way into the playoffs just for a chance of getting the championship prize as opposed to a shorter annual tournament with cuts of players. The NHL season goes 82 games with roughly the same roster as they started with in the preseason's end.

A team can potentially play up to 110 games to win the Cup. That's a lot of blood sweat tears and more to grit through a gauntlet to get to be #1

Not taking away from other leagues or trophies but the SCF and NHL are different in that regard to season trophies like the Presidents and such.
