Yeah, statistically you're pretty far off on this. For one, Ned is the only one who has had considerable AHL time like BBA mentioned. Let alone how much longer goalies take, he's in no way behind schedule

To me, Nedeljkovic in particular is a guy I would want to heavily over-season before throwing him into NHL action. Goalies his size really don't make it into the league as "raw" prospects anymore. They need to be on top of their game mentally and athletically, because they're not going to survive as Darling-style shot blockers.

Of the few current goalies 6'0" or under, the only one who's outside the 27-33 age range is Saros in Nashville. Ned might be the next Saros, but it's a lot more likely that he would be a Raanta or Dell who doesn't really emerge till his mid-20s. That's another 2-3 years development time and realistically, a high likelihood that it ends in another organization.

Huh? Since 2010, here are all the goalies the Canes drafted. Only 1 of them, Ned, has even played a full season in the AHL and he's only played 1.5 seasons in the AHL because he was so bad the first year he was sent to the ECHL.

2018: Kucharski has zero seasons in the NHL
2017: Makiniemi has zero seasons in the NHL
2016: Helvig has zero seasons in the NHL
2015: Booth has zero seasons in the AHL (and 28 games in the ECHL)
2014: Ned has 1.5 seasons in the AHL
2012: Altshuller 33 games in the AHL and is was out of hockey last year.
2012: Olson never even made it to the AHL
2011: Mahalak never even made it to the AHL
2010: Andersen refused to sign and was re-drafted

Yes my point is none of them ever got a shot despite our continuous shit goaltending. They never bring up an AHL except for maybe Peters, they always go sign somebody random who shits the bed, starting with Manny Legace.

Manny Legace did not “shit the bed”.

Given the circumstances he came in under he performed fairly well and most of us canes fans were satisfied with him.

Which one in that list should have gotten a shot, exactly? Half of them didn't even make the AHL level, let alone do well there, and the rest are younger and more recently drafted than Ned. Seems like complaining for the sake of it.

Keith Kinkaid is short for a goalie and it sucks but that will probably will be the reason he will never be a true #1 in the nhl
