Which Flyers Players are overrated?

Snider is on record after the Lavi firing that they are going to see if they have "overrated" their players. Holmgren back in 2011 said they had "overrated" their team after the 2010 Cup appearance which as Snider pointed out almost didn't happen and gave them a false sense of security...hence the Carter and Richards trades and attempt at a reset.

Question.....since the inconsistencies have been consistent since the big trade..... is it really some "overrated" players, as Snider is suggesting, that might be the cause for the Flyers woes "AGAIN" or is it something larger or both?

I think it is both but the fact that this management has twice indicted itself on possible poor personnel decisions is pretty revealing. Having said this I do think we have some overrated players...one of them I'm going to say is Hartnell.

I have to think who might be the others but I will not lay judgement on B Schenn and Couturier as harshly as others have. I don't think they have been placed in the right situations and environment to develop properly..... yet I see them slowly overcoming these barriers nonethless.....

What's your biggest challenge, Mr. Snider, with this team with 79 games to go?

Well, our biggest challenge is to turn around a horrible start and to change the fact that we didn't make the playoffs last year and find out if we're overrating our players.

Everyone but Mason right now. His GAA would be under 1 on a team that could control the puck.

Hartnell is definitely one. Simmonds, Giroux (still a great player but not the 93 point guy we saw in 11-12), Talbot(had a career year here that he will never duplicate), Coburn.

Guys I would absolutely keep unless you simply got an offer you couldn't refuse: Voracek, Giroux, Mason, Couts, B Schenn, Read.

I would shop everyone else.

How about Mason? Everybody thinks that the man's God right now. How many games has he played as a Flyer?

Not a 93 point player? What is he then?

Not many but so far so good. I don't think anyone is overrating him. He's been that good for us. We wouldn't even have our one win if not for him. Im not 100 percent sold on him but why shop him when he's done nothing short of stand on his head?

Giroux is a 75-85 point center imo.

He scored at a 82 point pace last year without Jagr.

A fact that destroys your fluke argument.

Crosby plays with 4th liners and still produces. Claude needs to pick it the **** up.

Crosby's also a generational talent, whereas Giroux is just a star player. The guy is a PPG-90 point player. Typical overreaction by this fan base.

I hope this is sarcasm!

Dupuis is without Crosby probably a 45-50 point guy, look at him in Minny with limited minutes, being mainly used as a 3rd line PK specialist... before he had developed as a player, he still had a 50 point year when he was moved onto the PP and 2nd line, and 35 points when playing as an exclusive 3rd line specialist. When used in that role in Pitt he had 40... arguably the best in the league at the time for the minutes he played.

Kunitz had seasons of 50, 60, 50 and 46 before he was moved to Pitt, and when he was not playing with Crosby was still a 50 point player on the Pens.

Both gain about 15 points over 82 games playing with Sid I imagine.

So Crosby has a 45 point guy and a 50-55 point guy to play with

Hartnell is really a 45-50 point player (6 years at that pace, 2 over) and Voracek is at minimum a 50-55 point guy, (paced for 3 years... 1 over) and probably more like a 65-75 now 'developed'.

So Giroux probably does have better linemates... but not by a long way.

Should G be getting more points... yep, but if the last 3 games are anything to go by he is pacing for 77 points! ;)

b. schenn came in overhyped and the gloss is coming off. giroux is incredibly talented and soon to be overpaid. i think timonen has less in the tank than people hoped. simmonds is hartnell its a lack of grit elsewhere that makes us require both. i dont think theyre that far off with anybody

Considering the insulting crap other fans are saying and the crazy overreactions of our own fans I'd say almost our whole team is underrated at this point.

I love Simmonds as a player, but he doesn't have the skill or the vision to be a first line player.

Beyond happy he's on the team, and I don't want him to be moved, but he's just not very good with the puck.

Flyers players I think are overrated:
Hartnell
Coburn
Schenn brothers (more b/c they have yet to pull it all together and be consistent)
Couturier offensively (his defense is so good though, hopefully offense will come)

They are 22 and 23, give them time. D-man in particular take time. Not to mention Brayden has 5 pts, meaning he's had a hand in 5 or the Flyers total of 11 goals on the season. Even with the team's terrible start he's putting up points.

Unless people expecting 70+ pts out of brayden and top pairing potential from luke i don't think they're overrated.

Similarly Appleyard went into the Couturier pt expectations in great detail. We shouldn't expect much from him in terms of points unless he stops playing the tough minutes.

Simmonds is easily the most overrated. I don't get the obsession with this guy amongst the fan base. He's an average to below average forward whose numbers are inflated because he gets an opportunity to play on a great PP.

Giroux is overrated to an extent but it's all dependent on who you're asking. Nicklas Grossman looks like nothing but a terrible NHL defenseman to me so if you actually like him as a player I guess I'd consider him overrated. Coburn has actually gotten to the point where he's a bit underrated because frankly he's a pretty good second pairing guy. Definitely not "terrible" as some people have suggested.
