I heard the expansion draft rule is the same for Seattle, except for the part, where Vegas gives up players.

Why not? Seattle isn't joining the league next year. If it was next year I could understand them not being a part of the expansion.

This is probably going to change when GM's, teams and fans rant about it.

Added Context: VGK also does not receive any of the expansion fee.

NHL has the weirdest rules. Why don't they get an expansion fee now that they are a part of the league?

I'd love it if teams could just relinquish the fee and save their players lol.

Hasn't something similar to this happened in previous expansions?

Atlanta (1999) and Nashville (1998) didn't have to lose anyone in the 2000 expansion draft (Columbus and Minnesota)
Nashville didn't give up anyone in the 1999 expansion draft (Atlanta)

Ottawa and Tampa (1992) had to give up players in the 1993 expansion draft (Anaheim and Florida)

San Jose (1991) didn't lose anyone in 1992 expansion draft (Ottawa and Tampa)

With the team this good, I wonder what would it be like to not give up players.
I'd like to see them repeat their performance next season before declaring them 'this good'. I think they are one of several teams due for a massive correction next season.
