It was 7 points per period.
The Devils were in a better position than the Kings to win a Cup circa 2012 lmfao
I'm quite sure that during the down years I wrote that the Avs would be better keeping Duchene and trading Mack, since he was younger, with more value and destined to play wing, not center.
Nichushkin > Horvat
I was really mad about it, too.
I thought Mike Hoffman would never make it as more than a cup-of-coffee player.
I thought Cowen could be equally/more important to the Sens than Karlsson.
I thought Alex would be the best Nylander.
Probably a name that very few will recognize, but I thought Michael Sdao was going to be a stud on the Sens blueline for years to come. To be fair, I had never seen him play and was going entirely on what Bryan Murray told me.
I mean, if Drouin was way smarter and worked way harder, he could probably be at Marners level defensively?
But yeah, that is definitely a good fit for this thread lol.
Flyers would dominate the division this year. Pittsburgh, Washington and Boston aging. Islanders weak on top end talent. Rangers too young. Buffalo being Buffalo. Ditto New Jersey.
I thought Toews was a lot better than Kane and would have the better career. I figured Toews would be an annual 30/40/70 Selke nominee and Kane would be a one dimensional 85 point guy.
That trading away Jeff Skinner for nothing was lunacy.
Thought James Neal, a player that had scored 20+ goals in each of his preceding 10 seasons would score 20 goals for the Flames. What a fool I was.
Also had a couple Laine>Matthews opinions that don't look too great atm.
I've been saying the Penguins are going to miss the playoffs for three or four straight seasons now. I'm convinced next season is the one...
Flyers were going to the finals against the Avs at the start of the year.
Hated Jason Arnott and was super pissed the Devils gave up Guerin for him
And now for my biggest goof up.....Hated the Devils trading down to draft Brodeur when they could have taken Trevor Kidd
Oh, this is a doozy.
I thought Jaccob Slavin was a flash in the pan his rookie year (to be fair, the Canes had had a long string of "hot out of the gate" rookie Dmen who ultimately amounted to nothing...like Jamie McBain) and argued strenuously that we'd f**king the Canes' future if we didn't sell high before potential trade partners figured out he just wasn't that good.
Oops. Glad I'm not the GM.
That Bobby Sanguinetti (taken one pick before Claude Giroux) would have a far better career than Giroux, who I believed should not have been a first round pick.
That or that Igor Knyazev was going to be the next Vlad Konstantinov.
I thought Claude Giroux would never amount to anything more than a 35-40 point 2c.
Habs losing to the leaf's in 4
I thought Olli Määttä was going to develop into a top-tier NHL player. I thought he’d get to a point where hed be included in Norris talks. Not necessarily winning it, but that’s how high I was on Olli.
Kinda figured the mighty Leafs were going to defeat the Habs lol
I remember how bitter I was after Chiarelli and McLellan were hired after they drafted McDavid and got that playoff round win. I thought they were just gifted the keys to a cup. Lmao
I thought David Fischer would become the next Scott Niedermayer.
All the tools, no toolbox.
Just look at my name. You were not the only Sven Baertschi truther.
The reason I was so into his upside was that my dad is a flames fan and that rookie year of his there definitely had some hype to it. He had pretty good numbers on pretty horrific Canucks teams, but I really think his injuries and contract screwed his career into the sewer
I was so mad when we traded him to the Canucks for a 2nd. Looks like it worked out for the Flames (Andersson). Shame his injuries derailed him so badly.
for some reason i was convinced Grigorenko would turn into the most dynamic point producer from 2012 draft... i took him so damn high in my hockey pools and figured i had stolen him
Then guys like Wilson, Teravainen, Hertl, Vasi all fell into other pool GM's lap a little later in our drafts
That sean couturier would be better than mark scheifele
Separate names with a comma.
