I’d rather look forward to something concret, aka the top pick. A true talent will be good no matter what

MB might get better or might get fired but getting a new GM doesn’t guaranty anything will be better to the level of loosing a top talent.

LAF isn’t good enough on his own to fix the team.

Of course elite talent is not the only thing needed to win but it is the hardest thing to get. It is something that can't be taught and that you can only get with a top pick.

I don't know if Lafrenière will eventually be good enough to put a team on his shoulders but he is currently, apparently, the only one that might have a shot at doing it. But no matter what, he will most probably be a huge part of a team.
