Because I’m not making my team based on team accomplishments? I’m choosing the players I feel performed at the highest level. Put van Dijk as he’s been this decade in the teams that Ramos won with and he’d improve them; I feel the same about Thiago Silva.

That's pretty much the same exact team I would pick. I would maybe swap Xavi for Vidal or De Rossi for that extra muscle in the midfield.

Messi obviously leads in goals and assists, but as for other categories Vidal has had most tackles, Hazard has been fouled most (300 more times than Messi) and is second in dribbles. If Hazard had suffered only the same number of fouls than Messi, he probably would have at least 50 more goals and assists during the decade.
