maybe, just may be, by checking other stats as well, not only primary assists?

Ok, will do

Since Marner Entered the League 2.5 years ago

Primary Assists - Marner 75, Point 37
Secondary Assists - Marner 41, Point 33
Assists per 60 - Marner 2.23, Point 1.31
Even Strength Assists - Marner 72, Point 52
Power Play Assists - Marner 43, Point 16

This season so far
Primary Assists - Marner 24, Point 11
Secondary Assists - Marner 3, Point 3
Assists per 60 - Marner 3.33, Point 1.91
Even Strength Assists - Marner 19, Point 11
Power Play Assists - Marner 7, Point 3

Which of these stats point to Point being the better playmaker?

Zach Hyman and Connor Brown on McDavids wing
Nope. But he would absolutely have Getzlaf, Bergeron, and Toews on the roster over some of the players people are suggesting.

You are kidding yourself if you think he wouldn’t. Those guys are still playing at a high level and Babcock has won gold with them multiple times

Sean Monahan over those guys? Really?

Nice cherry picking, but you can't beat this one:

Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Duchene - McDavid - Scheifele
Hall - Tavares - MacKinnon
Benn - Seguin - Giroux
O’Rielly - Stone

Vlasic - Doughty
Giordano - Pietrangelo
Reilly - Subban
Burns

Holtby
Price
Fleury

I think this is what it would look like. Not because these are necessarily the best players Canada has to offer, but because Canada values experience so much.

Honestly wouldn’t be shocked to see Toews and Keith on the team. Would love to see Point, Marner, and Chabot make the team would make Canada more fun to watch.

Ive given you all the stats I need to, you keep resorting to the same petty argument, so im done here, Ive proved my point
I pointed out on this season goals total more times than you on secondary assists from the season that happened 3 years ago. So you still have something to catch up with. But if you done, well in this case we take Point on the 3rd line and left Marner in the press box.

It would be very tempting to put Connor on Sid's wing for a passing of the torch moment ala the '87 Canada Cup.

I'd still be taking Toews, as the matchup Center with Bergeron on Crosby's wing. People act like he's washed up, but he can still play, especially in a role...and he's been an important part of winning teams. You still need to win faceoffs, kill penalties, etc. Not everyone's gonna get to play on the PP and offensive zone starts all the time.

Marchand-Crosby-Bergeron
Duchene-McDavid-MacKinnon
Giroux-Tavares-Stamkos
Benn-Toews-Scheifele

Spare: Seguin/O'Reilly/Marner/Hall/Carter.

Vlasic-Doughty
Rielly-Pietrangelo
Giordano-Subban

Spare: Letang/Burns?

I think the top line is self-explanatory, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Having finally found some guys to play with Crosby. The 4th line is your grinding matchup line that Canada has always liked to take, and makes sense to have when the guys can all still score. 3rd line is just sorta...the leftover offensive players clustered around Tavares.

I'd give Duchene a spot because he's tons of fun to watch, he's been part of the team before, seems comfortable enough playing wing, and i think his game would mesh with a speed line like that. Seems like he can play at that pace. But i could see the argument for others over him. Could always slot Seguin in and put him with Tavares and Benn taking advantage of that chemistry. Or take O'Reilly to really fill out that checking line. I guess Hall has to be in the conversation, but he's got a bit of a stigma, hasn't exactly won anything, and doesn't always seem to find chemistry that easily...which is important in a short tourny when you already have so many play-driving Centers.

Goaltending...i guess i'd just take Price/Holtby/Fleury and call it good. Hope Price kinda shakes off the doldrums in a different team Canada environment.

Canada
Marchand-Crosby-Bergeron (Obvious first line....legacy line)
Hall - McDavid - Mackinnon (If they can gel, this line is unstoppable. the best line by far)
Stamkos - Tavares - Marner (Stamkos and Tavares have previous chemistry. Stamkos is the finisher on this line. Marner has to be there, the way he is playing)
Giroux - Schiefele - Seguin (so tough to pick this line. I think all three of these guys can excel in a shutdown two way role. They also have the ability to put up points)
Domi/Point/Duchene (I admit that Domi is a long shot and that's purely a homer vote for me)

Reilly - Doughty
Giordano - Burns
Vlasic - Subban
Chabot - Pietrangelo

Price
Holtby

Toews McDavid Scheifele
Marchard Crosby Bergeron
Benn Tavares Marner
Hall Mackinnon Seguin

Subban Doughty
Giordano Pietrangelo
Vlasic Burns

Who even cares who is in net, that is the best hockey team ever assembled and it doesn't matter. They could suit me up for goalie and would probably be in most games until the final buzzer.

Having three times more goals than a competitor, while being the best in goals among all the players on the roster and still being out of lineup is literally egregious.
You picked the wrong guy to go after in Marner. You should've said Point over Giroux.

This is probably my forward unit as well. What I wouldn't do to see Marner - McDavid-Mackinnon together...

Nice to see the recognition of many people putting not only Tavares but more importantly Marner on this team, which he rightfully would be on if there were a tournament right now.
