If you were the GM of the Leafs, how much would you pay Nylander on a 7 year deal? Edited. Some comparables below. Some suggest he can’t make more than Pastrnak who is proving to be the better player. Or did Pastrnak simply sign a bad deal ?

    Ehlers 6 million per
    Pastrnak 6.6 million per
    Draisaitl 8.5 million per

I think he’s worth a bit over $6 million. Definitively below Pasta who is a much better player. Should be no more than Ehlers who is a good comparable plus a slight bump for cap increase.

6.5-7. cap is going up at a rapid pace. Tom Wilson is getting 5 mil these days. 6 m players are 50 point scorers now.

Everyone knows he will get something that starts with a 6. Which they would cut the 8M BS.

Pastrnak signed a bad deal? Look at all the comparables around the league, Draisaitl is the only outlier simply cause Chiarelli is his GM. Pastrnak, Gaudreau, Draisaitl have all proven to be much better than Nylander so far. Ehlers, whose making the least out of the four is his closest comparable and even then he's been the more productive player up to this point.

Anything between 6-6.5 is reasonable taking into account the cap going up.

Draisaitl is disgustingly overpaid and Ehlers is slightly overpaid.

Pasta is underpaid! He is the best player in this bunch by a mile!!! AINEC.

Willy should be right around $6.5M AAV.

Nylander/his agent are delusional if they think he's worth $8M+. The correct number for him is somewhere in the $6M to $7M range.

    6-6.5M.

You can slightly bump it up if he signs for 8 years.

People need to get the "sign the Pastrnak deal" out of their minds and get on board with the "sign the Pastrnak Cap %"

The Pastrnak Cap % would put him directly at $7,000,000 per.

I think 7 is what Gross has wanted all along.

What he is worth and what he will get are obviously 2 different things. He is worth 6-6.5 imo but guessing he wants 7.5-8, which sucks.

7, same as Pasta even though Pasta is better. Counting for cap inflation.

Realistically, 7-7.5, but I think he pushes for 8+ with the way contracts for the top guys are going. Matthews and Marner are going to end up with 20+ million between the 2 of them. He’d be crazy to take 6.5.

In what way has he earned 7.5 million? If what he did on his ELC means 7.5 long term then it is gut check time for any team with players with any results at all on an ELC.

If Pastrnak is 7m with cap adjustment, Nylander is worth 6.5m at most.

    ~7 mil
    Last year ~6

I would offer him something like 6.75

If he becomes a regular 70 point player thats a good contract

If he scores around 60 it's a little on the expensive side, but this so the game with young players who have potential upside
