Thought this would be a fun exercise. You don’t have to do every pick for it’s player equivalent.

(I.e. 31st overall = Wayne Simmonds.......not saying that this is the equivalent value, but I’m just giving an example if someone thought this and wanted to post).

#1 + #2 + #3 + #4 + #5 = McDavid maybe?

But seriously, #3 for a signed Panarin could be interesting

Value varies a lot.

Median pick at the first few spots would be something like
  1. Hall/Seguin
  2. Hall/Seguin
  3. Duchene
  4. Johansen
  5. Niederreiter
  6. Monahan
  7. Kadri

The first 5 picks do not compare to McDavid.

Exactly. Imagine getting the entire Top 5 selections of any of the most recent drafts. Most of them have value significantly HIGHER than McDavid.

The most comparable years are 2014 and 2011 in terms of value and the only year in the last 15 you wouldn't take easily is 2012 (because the value of those 5 is very little outside Reilly).

McDavid is probably closer in value to pick 1 and 3
