Wow. What a concept Kyle. The mind just boggles. Im not being facetious or a smart ass, just not somthing Ive ever considered. The mind just reels at the lost possibilities & potentialities, particularly if you were around, as I was (Toronto, I was 10 when we won the Cup) pre-67 expansion. I guess if were going full-out fantasy, we can pretend Ballard never existed?. We wouldnt have to worry about him?. Because even with all that wealth of talent available, pretty sure he'd have found a way to mess it up.

If the Original 6 still existed today ...

It would have long been surpassed by a 24+ team WHA (or other rival League) as the premier professional hockey league.

So let me get this straight. Detroit gets "Original Lidstrom", "Pocket Lidstrom", and potentially "Teen Lidstrom"? Yeah, that's fair.

No question about that kdb, however, if you make the surrealistic leap Kyle suggests its an amusing flight of fancy. I cant even begin to get my head around it let alone consider Gretzky's, Lindros, Lemieux's, Bure's, Lidstroms or any other number of names on a 'C' Form.

I'd say the Boston team would probably not dress Whitney over J Bo or Carlson...

Henrik Lundqvist doesn't seem to exist in this universe, Kari Lehtonen is Finnish...

Of course, you would also have to make the surrealistic leap of the players ever agreeing to such a system. Sorry Sidney, you can only play for the Habs and they can pay you as little as they want.

Try to imagine the Leafs-Habs epic encounters in the 80s:

Gretzky vs Mario, 7 games. :amazed:

why did toronto not get a country like every other team did

certainly sweden should be with the leafs since they started there first

They don't need any help, Ontario alone produces enough players to dominate even this league.

They do need Switzerland though to get a goalie.

so Leafs get the Swiss, but the Rangers would have had Wendel.

How come we don't get a euro group? Do you have Harold Ballard running this team again?

PS Claude Giroux is from Northern Ontario...do you let the Habs pick in our yard?
