Obviously it's ridiculous, but how would the league change? I'd imagine a huge increase in scoring but the 5v5 game would be slowed down dramatically as players would be afraid of jumping the gun.

Man it'd be silly.

Well that would certainly be dumb ;)

It's actually pretty easy not to go offside... if you're a beer leaguer. In pro hockey it's probably not so much that one guy jumps the gun as much as it is the guy with the puck didn't recognize his linemate was ahead of them. These guys practice and time it so they're always going full tilt, if the opposite winger without the puck has to stop at the line until he's sure the carrier will either dump it or carry it in then his ability to forecheck will be greatly reduced.

Offenses would change fundamentally. Getting into the zone on a line rush would be risky, and the safest way to do it would be to let one guy rush ahead and then drop the puck for a teammate. That's much easier to defend against.

So what you'd basically see would be nonstop dump-and-chase.
