Can there be any doubt now that it was Wendell Clark that made Doug
Gilmour a 100-point scorer and not Doug Gilmour that made Wendell Clark
a 50-goal scorer?

Doug Gilmour is a good two-way center who was made to look great by
having Wendell Clark on his wing. Wendell is turning the under-achieving
Nords into Cup contenders while Gilmour is now the top center on a very
mediocre team that is going nowhere.

Trading Clark for Sundin was a bonehead maneuver of extreme magnitude.


Clark's leadership is un-matched...and certainly will never be matched
by Sundin...a good goal-scorer, but not leadership potential.


Man, I would love to see Wendell in black and gold.

Wow. Can't believe anyone thought this.

I mean, the prevailing sentiment was that the trade gutted the team, and let's face it, we LOVED Wendel, but with the benefit of historical perspective, I can tell you that Dougie was the heart and soul of those leafs, not to mention their best offensive and defensive player in all situations. To think Clark made Gilmour couldn't be more baseless.

This actually puts things in perspective. Sometimes people say things that are so dumb that in hindsight, I wonder why I even felt the need to respond.
