Gretzky and Keenan simply did not get along with one another. Keenan publicly criticized Gretzky and on one occasion there was a verbal locker room altercation between the two. Keenan later apologized to Gretzky but their relationship was simply never the same.

Something I seem to recall about Keenan back then and his coaching philosophy towards the powerplay... I believe that Keenan did not believe in practicing the powerplay and left that up to the players to improvise. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Keenan didn't have his team practice the powerplay.

I would highly doubt that to be the case. Flyers generally had a great power play while he was in Philly.

He was generally known to be a great detail oriented coach.

Keenan suffers from the Paul Coffee syndrome. People only seem to recall their final years and the their 10+ years of greatness.

Keenan should be a lock Hall of Famer.
