What about Drouin as a basis? 2 more years at $5.5 million. He's played well each of these last two seasons, but the results aren't there. I think the goals would come back if he got out of Montreal. I don't think Berg moves him, and I'm in no rush to be rid of him. I just think it would be best for him.

I can't see FLA being willing to go for 2 first round picks, 1st and two decent, not great prospects

If they are close to the NHL they are also likely to not be exempt from the expansion draft.

I'm fine with prospects that we don't have to protect.

Agree, but drop the 1st round pick. Just keep repeating over and over; "Hall has 2 goals in 37 games"....

Risto was having his best season then he got crushed with Covid. People will still pay for potential

Firstly, no thanks on Stralman. If we're taking cap back we can use that elsewhere.

Based on the meager return Jersey got on two good vets, don’t get too greedy. Doesn’t look like any of you sellers will be hitting any home runs this deadline.

You could really use a swedish vet D to screw Dahlins head on straight. Stralman played a role in Hedman getting to the next level

If we use advanced stats to point how crap Ristolainen is, those same stats instead would make Hall look better than his actual performance this year.

I personally dont want to trade Ristolainen. You can have Montour or Miller instead.

I don't know who that is or why I should care about their opinion, especially since they clearly haven't seen Ristolainen anywhere other than some chart proclaiming to summarize hockey in a pictograph somewhere, but if you want to believe in that stuff to the exclusion of all other data, Hall is worth a hell of a lot more than what's been floated around so far.

But if you really don't want Risto, please feel free to take Montour or Miller instead. Seriously please take one of them.

This in logic makes sense, but at the end of the day, I don't see him being a target, for another rebuild. I tell you what I'll take Stralman and you can have Okposo. :D He can screw your bottom six forwards into shape, lol

More like the late 1980s. You’ve got less leverage than you think if you feel hall gets you more than that.

People have their opinions on Risto. IMO, he is a prime candidate to breakout on a good team and be a force in the playoffs. I feel what would be best suited for him, is to be a 3-4 guy on a good team and play less minutes, while playing heavily on the power play.

Risto is the type of defenseman that plays much better with good players around him. The few years the Sabres have had since Risto has been in Buffalo where they weren't complete bottom feeders and had some decent offensive talent, he racked up assists. Put Risto on a good team for the playoffs and they won't be sorry.

While I feel trading Risto will make a already bad Sabres defense even worse, I am in favor of it because it will mean the Sabres won't have to lose anyone of significance in the expansion draft.

Zito is now man in charge. Will not over pay for Hall. Likely has zero interest in Risto. Expect he will sit on cap space, wait till the last minute and try to pick up a bargain on 2 on expiring contracts. Failing that, he will stay disciplined and hold tight.

Looking at Buffalo's roster is like looking at Matthew Brady's Civil War photographs. They have barely demonstrated the ability to cash in on early draft picks so I am not sure a late first helps them all that much. Their drafts are euro heavy. I guess they don't have to pay their prospects if they are there versus the AHL. Islanders did a bit of that a while back. Doesn't offer a lot of control over their development.

If they are making a deal with Florida, they should add assets to get Spencer Knight and then address their defense. Easier said than done. I get that but they have to do better than some picks.

If Wheeler is out long term, enough to place him on LTIR....

Hall and Risto both with 50% retention for WPG 2021 1st, Vesalainen, Niku and cond. 4th (3rd if WPG makes it to conference finals, 2nd if SCF) be of any interest?

I agree with you, and hope we are right. Zito should have no interest in Risto, just for his contract alone. Unless Sabres take Stralman’s contract in return, and why would they do that, (other than to possibly be a mentor for Dahlin)?
I wouldn’t be giving up too much for Hall, either.
