If we're getting them prime, pretty good actually.

Rielly was drafted after 2012 and is only 24. Shouldn't be on there.

And if we're talking about if they were in their prime, then you should have Leetch on there.

Phaneuf was never a top pairing defenceman, and why would you pair him with McCabe?

Kaberle/McCabe
Gunnarsson/Phaneuf
Kubina/Stralman

Thread needs some guardrails to define what you are looking for. Some of your nominations based on the years are just silly.

For example, at the end of the 2009-2010 season, Kadri played 1 career NHL game.

If you define it as players solidily contributing over that decade (and recall the type of game it was) Matt Stajan was a pretty solid performer for many years. Not top performer mind you but good work.

You’d also want to look at Travis Green, Sergei Berezin, Dimitri Yushkevich, Tie Domi, Ian White, Nik Kulemin, Colton Orr

Stralman was never much of anything here and Rielly was drafted in 2012

Can we count Leetch's cup of coffee run with us? He was pretty awesome in his brief tenure here. Put Yuskevich in there too. Guy was a warrior.

Kaberle McCabe
Leetch Kubina
Phaneuf Yuskevich

Kessel only played a season of that decade.
Kadri 1 game in 2009-10
Rielly none
None of those guys should be listed.
Didn't Jason Blake play left wing?

I remember watching Leetch play for the Leafs and thinking... wow I haven't seen anyone as good as him at his position in a Leaf uniform in my lifetime. I'll be 40 in a month. That's when I knew how truly far away we were even 92-94 and 98-02. That being said, I loved both of those teams and haven't loved a team since then. UNTIL NOW!!!
Let me rephrase that, I've always loved them, I just haven't liked them much over the last decade and a half. Kind of like having a teenage child. You still love them of course but you just want to give them a smack upside the head.

If you are counting 200 and you get the prime version of the player, I think Steve Thomas should get in there somewhere.

Yep and if that’s the case, Renberg or dare I say it, Hoglund, should get a sniff. Of course if you get the player and get his prime production let’s not forget Gilmour and Clark both played in that decade.

And if you are building a team to compete in that era you cannot overlook the physicality element. Already mentioned Orr and Domi but shot blocking throw you out of the way guys like Brad May, Kris King or Brian Marchment.

PK guys like the above but adding Garry Valk or Mike Peca in his prime.

Good list. Completely forgot Svehla. Wish we could have got him to stay here for more than just the one year.

if there isnt a restriction on time played and we are talking about better career players, there should be a few replacements. jason allison, o'neill, steen, reneberg, riechel over a few of the guys on your list..and maybe beachemin on defense, but im not sure what the parameters are.

also steve thomas, dmitri khristich, and danny markov come to mind too!

If we're assuming everyone is in their primes...

Doug Gilmour also played a game for the Leafs in the 2000's, so he should be there as well. Kaberle, McCabe, Leetch, Housley, Wesley, Phaneuf/Stralman should be the defense.

Gary Roberts - Mats Sundin - Alex Mogilny
Owen Nolan - Doug Gilmour - Phil Kessel
Darcy Tucker - Eric Lindros - Joe Nieuwendyk
Shayne Corson - Ron Francis - Alex Steen
Extra: Jason Blake, Jason Allison

Brian Leetch - Phil Housley
Tomas Kaberle - Bryan McCabe
Glen Wesley - Dion Phaneuf
Extra: Anton Stralman

Eddie Belfour
Curtis Joseph
