Simple question

For those who dont know, a scale:

1-2 top pair, so 1 is higher end 2 is lower
3-4 middle pair
5-6 bottom pair
7 replacement

He's one of the best #4's in the league that can play top pairing if needed.

Watching him play the Oilers over the years he seems like a good second pairing guy. You don't hear his name as often as a lot of the other d-men, but that's because he's doing his job.

I'd say he's a Top-3D. Whether that's more of a #2 or #3, i think is kinda murky and situational more than anything. He can play either role.

Solid #3. If hes your #4 your D-core is in great shape, if he's #2 there may be an issue

I think he's a dead center #3 who can temporarily play on the top pairing when injuries occur.

I think he is a bottom end 2. I'm always impressed with his play but in full disclosser I don't watch the Wild play all that much.

I'm not sure how useful the distinction between #3 and #4 is, but he's a good second pairing guy. He diffuses bad situations and gets the puck moving in the right direction, blocks shots and generally does the right thing in his own end. Not great with breakouts but not bad. Excellent skater.

He hasn't shown a lot of offensive intelligence, though he's got the raw skills for it. His shot's hard and accurate and he passes well, but he just doesn't have the instincts. For years I thought it was just a matter of usage, but at this point I think it's just sort of what he is. I thought he did better this year when he was played with Spurgeon though, so maybe there's still a little untapped potential there. Of course Spurgeon's a hell of a partner.

But yeah, very good second pairing guy.
