What are the Habs, and how realistic is it they challenge for the cup?

if the expanded playoffs last year proved anything, it's that the above phrase could apply to all 31 teams in the NHL. Any team can catch fire at the right moment and win a series or 2 they have no business being competitive in. That doesn't make them a good team.

I really like your thinking here. If the Habs do catch fire and win 2 series they have no business being competitive in, they will have another cup.

Although I am not sure they have no business being competitive in the semi and final rounds.

I'm super impressed with their off-season too and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they not only win the Canadian division but make the finals as well.

I didn't like any teams from the North's chances once they won the divsion. Congrats to the habs and maybe they prove me wrong but I think they kept swept or lose 4-1 next round. NOTE that I felt that way whether it was the Leafs, Jets or my Oil. I just think the North was a very weak division.
