Blues:

Mike Yeo sucks
Jake Allen still sucks
The team defense has zero cohesion, which is expected when you have so much turnover with the forward ranks.
Let the kids play (Thomas, Kyrou, Blais, Husso, Mikkola) so they can be ready to compete next year...a Cup isn’t being won this year with the first two points being truths.

on the Sens board it's a common theme

all negative all the time versus trying to inject a degree of reality

it's a tough go

Kings:

Stevens sucks

Rebuild vs not to rebuild

Kings are slow

Robitaille and Blake weaseled into their positions

Trading away youth for rentals-Lucic, etc.

Caps board:

Wilson (just in general)
Whether burakovsky should be retained, traded, waived, benched, etc.

Those seem to be the top two across the board. A lot of the common ones (ovi, kuzentsov, trotz, orpik) seem to have simmered down temporarily.

Would give up Pesce for Nylander vs. would not give up Pesce for Nylander.

Darling deserves another shot vs. buy out his contract ASAP.

Justin Faulk in general (skill level, whether we should trade him, etc)

Its a Trap

Yes I’m still here to piss you off

Roman Polak and how great he is.

Well most of the time people are arguing over how elite Roman Polak is and what his value is to the Stars and how he is easily our best dman

Not much of an argument though as everyone appears to accept it as a fact now

Don't believe me? Go check our GDT vs Winnipeg

Is Polak a Stars legend or simply just an all time great. The ongoing debate.

I cannot speak for other boards, but what I see on the NYR boards are the following:

1 - Player X should be benched for Player Y.

Which immediately results into various line-changes in favor of opinion’s favorite players. Which inevitably leads to

2 - Coach Y is a terrible coach.

This is usually supported because favorite player was benched in the waning moments of the game (even though he was quiet all game).

3 - Veteran X should be benched for Youthful Y. It is assumed that all players who thrive in their leagues will automatically adjust to the NHL. Let’s not give our prospects the PERFECT setting to succeed in the AHL and just bring him up because....he’s a first rounder.

Other notables:

Our team can’t draft.
We should trade our HOF goalie for a 2nd-3rd rounder, because apparently he wants out (even though he wants to stay).
Followed by dramatic conspiracies that make reality TV look less dramatic.

Sabres board: probably could list the things that the board agrees on more than disagrees on:

1. We were happy we won the draft lottery.

2. We should’ve drafted Dahlin

That’s it. Even when people agree on something there are disagreements about the level that those agree on and those start mini “arguments” in which all parties start bickering about.

It's day 456 of the Barrie Wars. I haven't heard from my spouse or children in several moons. The cold front is settling in at Timmins Point. In the distance, there is the sound of a war horn: Makar approaches. I take shelter at Fort Girard, but how long will provisions hold?

Our board is pretty much completely divided down the middle and outright despises one another over the traditionalist vs. non-traditionalist approach to hockey. One side values passive, understated, smart, positional, boring/unsexy hockey and characterizes the opposite as running around like chickens with their heads cut off/dinosaur hockey, while the other thinks assertive, getting into scrums, being liked in the room, crashing into the boards, and presence-based, tough-guy hockey is invaluable and characterizes the opposite as useless spreadsheet hockey.

Broadly, people who think Gaunce is effective and Gudbranson is trash vs. people who think Gudbranson is effective and Gaunce is trash.

The same split involves arguing about:
  • rebuild vs. re-tool
    • drafting young players who might bust vs. trading for NHL ready but running-out-of-time-to-break-out 23 year-olds
    • age gap debates
  • dispassionate ruthless criticism vs. fanatical blind optimism
    • consistent/relentless judgment vs. escaping judgement w/ wait and see + hindsight is 20/20 arguments
  • spread-sheet non-traditionalism vs. dinosaur traditionalism
    • excusing totals based on ice-time/deployment vs. treating counting stats as the be-all-end-all
  • appeals to authority
    • did-the-chicken-or-the-egg-come-first coaching-decision arguments about why players are/aren't in the line-up or deserve/don't deserve their ice-time.
    • same thing about off-the-board draft picks and what we don't know behind the scenes
.... things like that.

They feel like exact microcosms of heated liberal vs. conservative debates, and Benning is basically our Trump. The whole board is just people throwing insults and dismissing everything the other side says as being the result of biased agendas and disingenuous narratives based on either being a Benning fanboy or hater. It's a pretty toxic environment, and it's been like this since Benning was hired.

If Holland can manage a rebuild or his best days are behind him.

Athanasiou: potential breakout player or his talent is limited due to bad attitude.

In general how the prospects will shake out.

Fans being overly negative versus being unrealistically optimistic.

Occasionally we reach back for the greatest hits like the Hossa/Franzen signing.

Don't have a board other than the mains. The generic GDT would be my most common thread and officiating usually generates the most heat.

tl;dr
