Umm... Pat Lafontaine? Mike Modano?

I wouldn't call Mike Modano a Superstar. Hes a star for sure though. When I say superstar, i'm talking a Jagr in his prime, a Pronger, a Lidstrom or a Forsberg. I doubt Parise has that upside though.

Andrew Raycroft will get Vezina consideration, and could very well win it. There is no way Pitkanen will beat out Raycroft for the Calder.

I understand your position, but I'm just saying who I'd pick. Not who will actually win.

Modano's a hall of famer if he jumps back and finishes his career on a high note.

theres a good chance there won't be a season next year, thus giving all these guys another year to develop. If I owned an NHL team, I wouldn't call up any guys until they were 23 or older.

Stajan over Bergeron. HA! Now that is high comedy.
see... in my views the calder shouldn't only be based on pt production.

GP G A Pts +/- PIM PPG PPA SHG SHA GW GT SOG Pct
Bergeron: 62 16 20 36 4 20 7 8 0 0 2 0 116 .138
Stajan: 58 12 12 24 9 20 0 0 0 1 0 1 56 .214

Minutes per game: Total: Even strength min played/gm PP Time PK Time
Bergeron 16.45 1,020 13.08 2.66 0.69
Stajan 11.02 639 9.47 0.62 0.91

Well... looking at these stats compiled from nhlpa.com you can see that bergon gets most of his points on the powerplay. Even strength is much more valuable... especially considering the less ice time that stajan gets. I think the stats speak for themselves. what do you guys think?

Edit: If horton was healthy all year... i'd have him in the 2 spot.

So yiu're arguing Stajan should be before Bergeron because he plays less? That's illogical to me.

How come none of you have mentioned Ryan Malone in any of your top 5 lists?
He should be no lower than 3 behind Raycroft and Hunter.

Yeah, because he's really helped Pittsburgh more than Pitkanen has helped Philadelphia?

how so? quite similar stats... if not better because stajans pts aren't on the pp liek bergerons. Playing less... producing about the same... i'd say stajan is better!

I'd say Bergeron is having the better effect on his team. More Ice Time is the best compliment a player can get. stajan hasn't got it.

He's our MVP and has shown up in every game this year...

Pitkanen has almost singlehandedly transformed one of the league's worst PP's into the 2nd best unit in the league.

Malone has MVP'ed the Pens into an 18 game losing streak. Hard to see who's making the bigger impact for their team.

Look at the rosters... not to mention that Quinn NEVER plays rookies/youngsters if he doesn't have to. He'd bench stajan for belak on age/experience alone.

The worst logic in the history of mankind, there's not 23 Malones on Pittsburgh's roster, there's one.

So you think Pitkanen is the reason Philadelphia is in the playoffs?

It's not poor logic, Pitkanen has obviously meant more to the Flyers than Malone has to the Pens.

Obviously? How so? There's no doubt Philly is the better team, but wouldn't you say Pitkanen has been put into a position where it would be easier to succeed than Malone? Malone is a one man show on Pittsburgh, that isn't the case with Pitkanen.

Don't you think how much success the team has reflects that it's individual players have been better?

How easy was Pitkanen's situation? One of the worst pp's in the league adds one player and becomes one of the best? surely that means the one player has definetly addaed something to the team?

Considering the Flyers were an easy playoff team without Pitkanen and the Penguins are the worst non-expansion team assembled in over 10 years who do you think is stepping into a more favorable situation?

Not even Mario Lemieux or Wayne Gretzky could turn this Penguins team into a competitor, so you can't expect a kid who wasn't even supposed to make the NHL to do that.
