Leafs fans told me he would score 30g 30assist on the third line lol
Kadri is coming off back to back 32 goal seasons.

And it is 8 games into the 82 game season. Breathe....

I don’t see an issue. Didn’t he score a goal tonight?

He had a career year and is regressing back to his norm is all.
2 years ago was a career year. also if he has had back 2 back 30-30 wouldnt that be the norm? players tend to trend up. which is what he as been doing.

Well, he has been snake bitten for sure. He also has had Brown and Lindholm as his linemates which are not very good offensive players.

He's adjusting to his new role. I think he'll be fine. He's been unlucky but working hard. He really would not be the #3 C on any other team but the Pens.

The norm is him being a 17-20 goal 40-50 point player.

Players don’t continually trend up. Most peek for a couple of years and then regress back to a norm. Exactly what’s happening with Kadri.

Why is 40-50 the norm but not 60?

I’m an idiot. I was thinking he had back to back 60 point seasons. Which isn’t he case.

Having your career year also be your normal level is impressive
that's what he's scored the past 2 years. So, that's been his normal level.

I mean, his career 82 game point pace is 52.4. Career. So, what, you think his normal pace is a 30 point forward or something?

Matthews is scoring all the PP goals. Kadri probably flirts with 50 pts in his current role.
Probably pretty accurate. He's not going to score as much, because the offensive opportunities are going to be focused more on Tavares and Matthews.

But, yeah, Matthews will score close to 100 is my bet. Tavares gets 80+ too.

I'm fine with Kadri's point totals dropping as he plays the agitator/defensive forward role.

I'm fine with this logic as long as I get to call 100 points MacKinnon's new normal level...

1. Mackinnon has never hit 100 points
2. Mackinnon's average over the last 2 years is 75 points not 100

If we’re playing the recency-bias game then MacK came closer to 100 points last season than kadri did to 60...

1. The guy you were responding to used 2 years for an average and then career average. Both cases Mackinnon does not hit 100 points
2. Mackinnon's career average is 68 points a season.

uhh, if he can go two years in a row, and show it's not a one off, then sure, I'd buy into him much more. As of now, he's averaged 60 points for most of his career, until last year.

It certainly is a good sign, and he had one hell of a year last year. But there is a big difference between 2 years, and one, when you've got a long track record that says differently.

Again, Kadri's point per game average is 52.5 points. It's then he gets 30+ goals 60ish points TWO seasons in a row. for an increase on his career pace of a whopping 7.5 points, or 15%. Much more believable than someone who averages very similar points to Kadri for 5 seasons, and then doubles those totals, ONCE.

so yeah, I'd like to see see Mackinnon show it's not a ONE off. I don't think there is much doubt he's taken a step forward, but let's see the dust settle, and see just how much.
