Overall I’m very pleased with what Holland has done outside of the Smith signing. How would you like to see the roster lines?

Archibald - McDavid - Puljujarvi
RNH - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Ennis - Turris - Kassian
Neal - McLeod/Haas- Chiasson

Nurse - Bear
Jones - Larsson
Russell - Barrie

Koskinen
Smith

Klefbom LTIR. If at some point he’s ready move out Russell.
Trade away Kharia. 7th rounder anyone?
Cross fingers one of Broberg or Bouchard probes ready and takes a spot in the lineup

Is this close to the roster we will see or do you think Holland still has a big move up his sleeve?

RNH Mcdavid Kassian
Ennis Drai Yam
Neal Turris JP
Archi Khaira Chiasson
Haas/Nygard/Russell

Would be my best guess on how Tippet would start things off. Even Holland mentioned how he liked how Ennis played with Drai in the play in series, which makes me think they're marking RNH as Mcdavids top 6 winger, with Kassian, JP, Neal, and Archi rotating in as the other side.

And then

Nurse Bear
Jones Barrie
Russell Bouchard
Larsson

At least one pair that we know plays okay together, and the bottom 4 hopefully gels.

I'd like to think we somehow get out of Chiasson, Neal, Russell, or Larssons contracts and improve the D on the left side, but I'm not counting on it.

People won’t like Neal with McDavid, but if we’re ever going to dump him, he needs to be putting up 20+ goals, and he’s still arguably our best goal scorer among the wingers

This. Although I am hoping we see an improved JP and he plays his way onto that top line with RNH and McDavid, dropping Kass down to the third line

JP and to a lesser extent, Benson, are the real X factors in that top 6. If either shows they can make an impact, we're looking great.

I debated putting Benson in the lineup too. Hopefully some of our young guys are ready to step in. I like the look of your lines if he is

Too early to say IMO.

Could still see some movement, if even from a cap perspective.

One of Russell, Chiasson, Neal(??) out at least.

I’m really hoping he steps up this year. He’s not the best skater but he thinks the game at a high enough level to keep up with McDavid I think.

What I think it should look like:

Ennis? - McDavid - Kassian/Puljujarvi
RNH - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Neal? - Turris - Kassian/Puljujarvi
Nygard - Haas - Archibald
Ex: Chiasson, Khaira, Benson?

Nurse - Bear
Jones - Barrie
Russell - Larsson
Lagesson

Kosk
Smith

What will probably be:
RNH - McDavid - Kassian
Ennis - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Archibald - Turris - Puljujarvi
Chiasson - Khaira - Neal
Ex: Nygard, Haas, Benson?

Nurse - Bear
Russell - Barrie
Jones - Larsson

Kosk
Smith

1) I still dont know who should be McDavid's LW. I think RNH should be with Draisaitl
2) I dont see where Chiasson, Khaira fit on this team. I also dont really know where Neal fits but I think if he plays like he did in the playoffs, he can find a spot somewhere.
3) I dont know who Barries partner would be, if Klefbom isnt back

The defence and especially goaltending worries me a lot. Bear and Jones (and Bouchard) taking another step forward could make up for it. Koskinen is a mixed bag, he had a good .917 SV% but he needs to prove he can play ~60 games a year and maintain those stats. Mike Smith :( I hope he only gets ~20 games and zero playoff appearances.
