Lots of talk about the dreaded West coast road trip coming up.

The Senators play 4 games in 7 nights including a back to back in San Jose and Anaheim on the weekend.

The team finishes up in Phoenix and their Home Opener will finally be on the 17th.

How many points will we get on this trip?

Everyone seems so negative right now so I'll say we only lose once and finish with 6/8 points.
We lose Saturday night. Lehner starts vs the Ducks.

I predict we win one of four in regulation. I think we match up good with LA and Anaheim but Anaheim is the second of the back to back. I think we'll struggle most against teams that can skate.

Well, we're perfectly capable of beating all of those teams...and we're perfectly capable of losing all of those games, too.

I think we have a good shot of beating LA, Anaheim and Phoenix. San Jose looks really good right now.

YOW
first of all, it's a california road trip. It is far more convenient to simply ignore the fact that glendale is not in california.

my prediction is 4 points (1-1-2), and that is a win to me. In fact, surviving this 6-game road stretch to start the season (6+ points?) is a win to me.

I would be happy with anywhere between 4 and 6 points. What a brutal start to the season.

Silfverberg outplays Ryan, Ottawa lowers expectations on Ryan to a PP specialist who can score a one man show goal every 40 games.

Bobby Ryan leads the charge and the Sens take 5 of 8 points. The Sens get bent over by the Kings, take the Sharks to OT and start clicking in the last two games.

3/8. Anaheim runs over Ottawa, Silvferberg scores two goals and in the process throws the board into a panic when Ryan has yet to score any on the roadtrip.

I'll be happy with 4 points. Anything over that is gravy in my opinion.

What a brutal first 2 weeks. Actually what a brutal first month...

What's funny is that we are ahead of the Habs in the standings and everything is sugar and spice over there.

Losing to the Leafs has a depressing effect on this board.

I'm saying it's a brutal start in terms of the schedule, not what has already happened...

We could go undefeated in all these games and I'd still say its a brutal start.

If we make it out of October at or above .500, we will be fine for the rest of the year...

I think it's going to be a rough trip because our schedule to start is horrible...

First game was what, 4 days into the season? Then we get a back to back. Then no games for another 4 days, then another weekend back to back. So in the first two weeks of the season we end up with like 5 games total, 4 of which are back to back?

I've always felt and I'm sure it'd be possible logistically, that the first 10 and last 10 games of the season should have no back to back games and no more than a 3 day break between games.

I actually think this team matches up pretty well against the west coast teams. The team seems to be struggling against transition and speed, and the west coast teams don't strike me as particularly great at that. Maybe I'm wrong, but they seem to be more "system" defence teams. I don't think the 1st line's lack of blazing speed will be as much of an issue against guys like Thornton, Getzlaf, or Richards.
