FLYERS VS. BOSTON The Flyers and Bruins completed their season series this year, with Philadelphia taking two wins in a shootout and Boston winning 2-0 in Philly on March 10 in what turned out to be the final game of the season for both teams. The March 10 loss snapped a nine-game winning streak for the Flyers. The two clubs have played six playoff series over their history – four times in the span of five seasons in the 1970s, and two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011. The Flyers are 3-3 in the six series, including a win in the 1974 Stanley Cup Final. On the other two occasions the Flyers beat Boston in a playoff series, 1976 and 2010, they advanced to the Stanley Cup Final in both playoff runs.

SEASON SERIES Sunday, November 10, 2019 – Flyers 3, Boston 2 (SO) at TD Garden: Joel Farabee scored the only goal of the shootout opposite three saves from Carter Hart to earn the Flyers the extra point and their fourth win in a row. The Flyers took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission on goals from Travis Konecny with 6:10 to go in the period and a power play tally from Philippe Myers that came with 2:04 left in the frame. The Bruins eventually answered with third period goals from Danton Heinen and Brad Marchand, and after Hart stopped a David Pastrnak penalty shot with 4:56 to play, the game proceeded to the shootout. Farabee’s goal came in the first round, and Hart clinched it with another stop on Pastrnak in the third round. Hart made 26 saves in regulation and overtime to earn the win, while Jaroslav Halak stopped 27 of 29. Stars of the Game: 1 – Joel Farabee; 2 – Travis Konecny; 3 – Brad Marchand.

Monday, January 13, 2020 – Flyers 6, Boston 5 (SO) at Wells Fargo Center: Travis Sanheim tied the game with 7:02 to play in the third period and Travis Konency was the only successful shootout participant as the Flyers erased a 5-2 deficit to take a 6-5 shootout win. The Bruins picked up the game’s first two goals before Kevin Hayes made it 2-1 on a power play with 1:38 left in the first period. The teams traded goals over the first 72 seconds of the second period, with David Pastrnak starting it off 33 seconds in only to see Sanheim get it back at the 1:12 mark. Boston got two more in the next 6 ½ minutes, from Charlie Coyle and David Krejci, to make it 5-2. The comeback began with two goals in just over 90 seconds in the second – Sean Couturier scored with 6:48 to play, followed by one from Connor Bunnaman 1:34 later. Sanheim’s second goal was the only one scored in the third. After a scoreless overtime, Konecny tallied in the fifth shootout round, while Carter Hart was able to keep out all the shootout attempts that reached him. Hart made 26 saves in regulation and overtime, while Jaroslav Halak absorbed the loss with 34 stops. Stars of the Game: 1 – Travis Konecny; 2 – Travis Sanheim; 3 – Sean Couturier.

Tuesday, March 10, 2020 – Boston 2, Flyers 0 at Wells Fargo Center: The Flyers controlled play for the better part of two periods, outshooting Boston 24-14 in the first 40 minutes, but Tuukka Rask turned them away at every opportunity to anchor the Bruins’ 2-0 win. Carter Hart matched Rask until Matt Grzelcyk finally broke through on a power play with 1:21 to play in the second period. Patrice Bergeron added an insurance goal with 5:20 to play. Rask made 36 saves in the shutout, while Hart absorbed the loss despite 27 saves. Stars of the Game: 1 – Tuukka Rask; 2 – Matt Grzelcyk; 3 – Patrice Bergeron.

Would rather see Kuhlman in than Lindholm. I've yet to understand what Par brings that our younger, higher upside players don't.

That said, excited to watch more Bruins, especially Stud. Hope he makes it hard to take him out of the lineup when Ritchie and Kase become available.

I saw a little of the Flyers' practice game and they looked pretty ready to go, probably more than the Bruins did. But it's a new day and a new game, and Boston can definitely beat this team.

The result's not that important though. Yes a win means something and a W would give the players a confidence boost, but the main thing is for everyone to stay healthy, build chemistry and re-find their touch. Definitely looking for a step-up in intensity compared to Thursday and a good solid hit-out.

I'd like to see the Bs re-confirm their top seeding, 'cause they all but earned it in the regular season. But more than anything I'd like to see them hit the real playoffs in the best possible shape. If that means ranking 2nd or 3rd rather than 1st, then so be it. Been a long wait for this - let's go Bruins!

This will be a good testing game. Philly looked like they were firing on all pistons in their exhibition game.

I'm hoping that we get info about the Bruins line up early so I can tweak things and Fenway Or another mod can post the updated graphic.

I'd really like to see Kuhlman in on the 3rd line with Bjork and Coyle (for now, until Ritchie and/or Kase are back) and Kuraly back to the 4th with Nordstrom and Wagner.

I agree. Those three seem to enjoy playing along the boards/cycling it so put them together.

Need to see more out of L3 today. Thought they were a bit of a liability/stuck in their own zone too much for at least the first half of that game the other day.
