Habby Birthday to the team that makes us soil ourselves in happiness and rage.

No wonder I've been feeling so old, part of my soul is 109. That's like, old old. Time to use the walking stick to beat the Sens on the backside tonight.

Here's to 25/109! Now let's party like it's 1909, baby.

The Habs had a 38 goal scorer that first year.

What do they look like anyway?

For shits and giggles, here's a sentence that's older than the Habs: “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.” It's from the late 1800s.

And since Google has killed any possibility of making riddles: it's known as a pangram, or holoalphabetic sentence.

A pangram or holoalphabetic sentence, is a sentence that contains every letter of the alphabet at least once. The above is the most famous example.

And it dates from the late 1800s because it was used to test typing equipment:

It was commonly used to test the letter quality of used typewriters, back when these machines were considered office equipment rather than collectibles.

If you're really bored, how about a pangram using the term "Habs"? The shortest sentence, wins. Wins what? Nothing. OK, forget about it. :sarcasm:

My roundabout way of putting the Habs's 109 years in perspective.

Happy B-Day, Habs.

So over 100 years ago, the hocky season used to start in December?
Yes, December til March. Only 22 games.

It started in mid-November and went to April in the mid 1920s after the league expanded to the US and to 44 games. By the end of the 30s it was starting in early November and was 48 games. In the 1940s it went to 60 games and started in mid October. Then early October through April by the 1950s with 70 games, then slowly evolved to where it is today with 82 games.

No wonder the players got significant raises ;-)

Why do the last 7 years seem so much longer than the previous 102? It's a temporal paradox.
I have been suffering from this little regarded condition for 25 years. It is it loosely known as “Habsfancerebralitis”. Symptoms are not exclusive to time dialation, but also may include increased sensitivities to the following. The French language, draft picks by any team including the Habs, small players in the NHL, Russians, line selections from 10 years ago, and probably sunlight. Love you guys/ gals and thanks for having me.
